2nd Amendment supporters everywhere! Good to see for a change.

It's great that you support the constitution, but it's a shame that you don't comprehend the context or original intent of it. :(

So how is that any different than what happeend in Mississippi?

In light of recent posts from MissMissy and others, I doubt that the events in the OP even happened that way. If it did, then the people detained didn't know their rights, or were deprived of them.

What crime was suspected in Mississippi? (I dont' think it was collusion, by the way.)

Read the article Slim, it says. It's really easy to fabricate a reason to detain someone, especially if they don't know their rights. Ignorance of the law is no excuse, although I think our schools should do a better job explaining them to students in a practical manner.

So you're saying a dude that got into a bar fight once in college shouldn't be able to own a gun the rest of his life?

I did say 'violent' crimes slim, there is a difference.

Who would hire a pedophile to teach at school? Who would allow their former rapist to continue to stalk them? When irresponsible gun-owning drunks sober up, are they still irresponsible?

I think you felons should be dealt with quickly and severely and then you should return to your normal lives.

Slim, there are some crimes that releasing the perpetrator back into society creates a public safety hazard. Pedophiles, rapists, violent criminals, career criminals. All these post a greater risk to the greater populace and as such need to be handled differently. My point was, you seem to think that criminals should be released after doing their time, no strings attached, that's just not how things work. The rights and liberty of the law abiding citizens comes first.

I've been there once or twice. Does that make me as much of an expert on what happened as you?

My point is, stuff like this happens in the south. Well, I suppose more accurately, I would say stuff like this happens in small towns, everywhere. It's sad to say, even if you know your rights, if you end up in some trouble in a small town, it could still turn out like a scene from deliverance.

Yes, sad, I am all ears. And you are on company/taxpayer time. Like welfare, but pays twice per month.

An expert on law enforcement AND the constitution!

You really ought to run for president in 2012. It worked for the guy in there right now. I bet if you start organizing some stuff in your community you'd be a winner without even needing to count the votes.

In light of recent posts from MissMissy and others, I doubt that the events in the OP even happened that way. If it did, then the people detained didn't know their rights, or were deprived of them.

I asked you this earlier and I'll ask it again - which side of law enforcement are you on? Do they do their job or not?

Read the article Slim, it says. It's really easy to fabricate a reason to detain someone, especially if they don't know their rights. Ignorance of the law is no excuse, although I think our schools should do a better job explaining them to students in a practical manner.

Perhaps the smarter kids should've taught the dummies?

And why would police fabricate a reason to detain someone?

Assault is a violent crime.

Please explain how they pose a risk. If someone does their time and is released, how are they a risk?

Or it could turn out like a scene from Rambo.

Slim, that is all high school level stuff. Maybe you should have paid better attention.

I asked you this earlier and I'll ask it again - which side of law enforcement are you on? Do they do their job or not?

Slim, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but not everything is black and white. Not everyone is an ideologue like you. I work for law enforcement, but that doesn't preclude me from criticizing law enforcement when they don't do their jobs right.

Perhaps the smarter kids should've taught the dummies?

Or you should have worked harder in school.

Assault is a violent crime.

Not always, it can also be a simple assault, which is not.

Please explain how they pose a risk. If someone does their time and is released, how are they a risk?

The recidivism rate in this country should be testimony enough.

Or it could turn out like a scene from Rambo.

Good point. That is why places like Iowa and Montana who have had issues with separatist militias in the past are preparing for such terrorist attacks.

How do you know they didn't do their jobs right? If it's not black and white, wouldn't they (and you) need to do a thorough investigation before anything could happen? It sounds like they've done one. Where's yours?

Or you should have worked harder in school.

Maybe I was too busy doing the teacher's job of teaching the dumb kids.

Might wanna bust out some google there, Mr. law enforcement.

So you're holding everyone accountable for the actions of a few?

Go Patriot Act!

Brandon, Mississippi will go down in history as the town where the Westboro Baptist Church met its match.

The lunatics showed up to protest at the funeral of local hero Staff Sgt Jason Rogers who was killed in Afghanistan, but left town without making a peep. They may have made a few moans and groans, but no peeps.

The Hayride has the righteous report:

A couple of days before, one of them (Westboro protestors) ran his mouth at a Brandon gas station and got his ####### waxed. Police were called and the beaten man could not give much of a description of who beat him. When they canvassed the station and spoke to the large crowd that had gathered around, no one seemed to remember anything about what had happened.

Rankin County handled this thing perfectly. There were many things that were put into place that most will never know about and at great expense to the county.

Most of the morons never made it out of their hotel parking lot. It seems that certain Rankin county pickup trucks were parked directly behind any car that had Kansas plates in the hotel parking lot and the drivers mysteriously disappeared until after the funeral was over. Police were called but their wrecker service was running behind and it was going to be a few hours before they could tow the trucks so the Kansas plated cars could get out.

A few made it to the funeral but were ushered away to be questioned about a crime they might have possibly been involved in. Turns out, after a few hours of questioning, that they were not involved and they were allowed to go on about their business.

No lawyers. No judges. No counter protests. Just a good old fashioned #### kicking.

That’s exactly what the Westboro lunatics have been asking for, so it’s only fair that the good folks in Rankin County gave it to them.

Next time, put it on pay per view and make a fortune for the widows and children of the military heroes. We know we’d pay to see it.

Update: We thought we should include the video that accompanied the original story. It’s the view from a trooper’s dash cam recording the escort of Marine Staff Sgt Jason Rogers as hundreds or even thousands of onlookers gathered alongside the roadway to pay their respects.

Right on!!! I said something on another thread to this affect....that if those tards ever came up to Alaska and tried that ####### they would be beat senseless. Good for Mississippi !!! :)

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

What's really funny is Trump mentioned looking into Obama's past and within two weeks, the long form magically appeared.

That's getting sh!t done!

Trump's efforts certainly seemed to have a laxative affect.

This isn't the first time that people have gotten together to thwart them.

They first announced they would protest Christina Green's funeral and then after:

a. AZ passed a law against it

b. Hundreds of motorcycle "club" members planned to show up (with their internet equivalent of cracking their knuckles)

c. A radio station in Canada promised them air time

They decided to call it off. Glad to see that more communities are able to shut them down too.

Gary, you wouldn't look quite so foolish continually if you actually posted based on facts instead of your uneducated guesses. Now don't take that as an insult as it's not intended as one.

To your posts or in high school?

Clearly, high school.

How do you know they didn't do their jobs right? If it's not black and white, wouldn't they (and you) need to do a thorough investigation before anything could happen? It sounds like they've done one. Where's yours?

If the police went out of their way to deprive people of their first amendment rights, then they aren't doing their jobs. Through a coordinated effort that goes beyond just police, they ignored crimes committed. I would say that is quite clearly not doing their jobs.

Maybe I was too busy doing the teacher's job of teaching the dumb kids.

How ironic that would be.

Might wanna bust out some google there, Mr. law enforcement.

Why would I need google? Simple assault is a misdemeanor, and considered a non-violent crime. I would suggest you take your own advice and look up the distinction between assault, and battery.

So you're holding everyone accountable for the actions of a few?

Slim, criminals have proven that they are not worthy of being full citizens of this nation. If you commit a violent act, you are a public risk.

Go Patriot Act!

Rambo wasn't a terrorist.

Right, and I guess in your mindset, Timothy McVeigh wasn't a domestic terrorist either, he was an uber patriot I suppose in your mind. But this also brings into light another point you brought up. Brian Denehey's character in that movie, the cop, was crooked. I can be critical of the police officer, and still support police in general. See how that works?
