Mississippi town figures out

Brandon, Mississippi will go down in history as the town where the Westboro Baptist Church met its match.

The lunatics showed up to protest at the funeral of local hero Staff Sgt Jason Rogers who was killed in Afghanistan, but left town without making a peep. They may have made a few moans and groans, but no peeps.

The Hayride has the righteous report:

A couple of days before, one of them (Westboro protestors) ran his mouth at a Brandon gas station and got his ####### waxed. Police were called and the beaten man could not give much of a description of who beat him. When they canvassed the station and spoke to the large crowd that had gathered around, no one seemed to remember anything about what had happened.

Rankin County handled this thing perfectly. There were many things that were put into place that most will never know about and at great expense to the county.

Most of the morons never made it out of their hotel parking lot. It seems that certain Rankin county pickup trucks were parked directly behind any car that had Kansas plates in the hotel parking lot and the drivers mysteriously disappeared until after the funeral was over. Police were called but their wrecker service was running behind and it was going to be a few hours before they could tow the trucks so the Kansas plated cars could get out.

A few made it to the funeral but were ushered away to be questioned about a crime they might have possibly been involved in. Turns out, after a few hours of questioning, that they were not involved and they were allowed to go on about their business.

No lawyers. No judges. No counter protests. Just a good old fashioned #### kicking.

That’s exactly what the Westboro lunatics have been asking for, so it’s only fair that the good folks in Rankin County gave it to them.

Next time, put it on pay per view and make a fortune for the widows and children of the military heroes. We know we’d pay to see it.

Update: We thought we should include the video that accompanied the original story. It’s the view from a trooper’s dash cam recording the escort of Marine Staff Sgt Jason Rogers as hundreds or even thousands of onlookers gathered alongside the roadway to pay their respects.

Yes, because restricting the constitutional rights of those who are unpopular deserves a pat on the back!

It sounds as if the letter of the law was followed exactly.

Police investigated the beating and the victim couldn't provide a description. Happens all the time. No witnesses? No surprise there either. Happens all the time.

Trucks blocking cars in parking lots. Police tried to respond but they didn't have enough tow trucks. Happens all the time.

Picked up some folks on suspicion of a crime and held them for a few hours. Perfectly legal. Happens all the time.

What's the problem here? You don't like it when the police follow the law?

and a medal too.

I disagree but you already know that.

Conspiracies are difficult to prove in court.

I find the WBC the most morally reprehensible, disgusting, just atrocious POS group that's out there. There's a special place in hell for those people.

But I have to agree with AJ.

Well, I don't think this is the worst group of nutters out there, but they certainly are not nice folks and their actions definitely reprehensible. However, you and AJ are right; vigilante style retribution is not the answer although I am not surprised by those who think that it is.

Maybe not THE WORST, ok, murderers and pedophiles, etc are worse, but this group disgusts me in such a profound way. I loathe everything about them.

I will admit to smiling through reading this, but at the same time, I cannot agree with any municipality shitting on the Constitution. No matter how reprehensible the msg is.

Especially when it's the county government and police conspiring to follow the law.

Did I miss something in the OP?

All I read about was an assault at a gas station. Not exactly vigilante justice.

I cannot agree with any municipality shitting on the Constitution.

Who shat on the constitution?

Everything the police did was legal. Not only that, it was protected by the constitution.

I think the interesting question is: If you had been at the gas station when the guy got his "####### waxed", would you have said anything when the police asked questions?

It all seems a bit concerted and perhaps even excessive (thought not illegal in what the police may have done) although I also agree that WBC had this coming to them. Lucky them they've been met with a relative amount of restraint given the gun-happy culture we have in this country.
