help me my fiance is in nigera and wants to come here

My fiance is in africa we have know each other for 3yrs running up each others phone bill he wants to come here to marry me in a church since we are both christian for some odd reason he can't get a visa of any sort out of nigera and I can't go there for the same reason, can so please help us for this hard on both of us and I thought by going here I might get some answers and I pray we do

It is common that Nigerians can't get visas to the US because they lack the ability to prove that they will go home when the time comes. Most of the Nigerians that pass through here have not been able to get a visa to visit. You sat that you can't travel there. Is it a money thing or some other sort of restriction ? Sometimes Nigerians can get visas to other places so you two may be able to meet in another place. There aren't a lot places that Nigerians can travel visa free so you may have to get creative about how and where to meet.

If he wants to come to the States to marry and live with you, you can petition him for K-1 visa, but you will have to prove that you have met in person at least once in the last 2 years. So if it's been more than 2 years since you last saw him, try meeting him in a 3rd country, if you can't go to Nigeria. Later, at his visa interview, he will have to show proof that you have a bona fide relationship and without any visits, it will be very very hard for him to get K-1.

First welcome to VJ. I wonder why you can't travel over to Nigeria. It is very hard for Nigerians especially young and single ones to get a visa on a visit to the US because it is believed, rightfully so that upon getting here, they WILL never return to Nigeria. You really have to prove that you have very strong ties to Nigeria that you do not intend to abandon. As for him coming to marry you here in the US; his chance of getting a visiting visa is slim to None. Your best bet at the moment is K-1 visa but you must have met in person withing the last two years which you have to prove by dated photographs, boarding pass,immigration stamps or anything to prove this requirement. As suggested by others if you can't meet in Nigeria, find another place to meet. If the K-1 is approved, you must be prepared to prove to the US Embassy in Nigeria, which is one of the toughest in the world, that this relationship is real before he can be issued to come and marry you.If you are unable to visit Nigeria, they would want to know why and so do we, so we can help. My honey was denied a tourist visa as well, it cost us over $1000 & many many hours...they didn't even look at the paperwork he brought. I have traveled there several times & I am also curious why you can't go there? It is very easy to get a visa to Nigeria. It usually takes me just 1-2 weeks to get it approved & the cost is about $130 total. What part is he in?

Naija is notrorious for denying Visiting visas in fact even if you have strong ties you can still be denied in most cases going for a visiting visa is a waste of money in Naija...

Yes the day my Honey went there were about 300 people, 3 were approved (old men). If I had known we would have never wasted our time/money on that route. I wish they would post their statistics for those things (if they do we couldn't find them anywhere) so we would have known!

You can be frustrated, you can be mad but its one of the country with high fraud rate, fake documents, fake certificates, fake relations etc.

Most embassy including US and UK are very very cautious to whom they grant visa from Nigeria.

Even when they grant visa specially B1/B2 - most ppl do not return back as promised, so after getting burned over and over all the embassy can do it not issue visa at all.

Welcome to VJ/ I agree with everyone's post. My fiance prior to us applying for fiance visa, and after we had met, tried to get a visitor's visa twice and was denied. I agree with the reasoning of above. Most Nigerians will not be granted a visitor's visa easily. You will need to meet in person, as suggested with the VJ members who replied, then you can apply for his fiance visa. VJ is a great source of information and support system for anyone who is thinking or applying for any kind of visa.
