Here's the Reader's Digest version:

Let me begin by issuing Jerome a public apology. I went overboard and wrote and did some things I shouldn't have. The apology has absolutely nothing to do with what followed. It's earnest.

A few weeks ago I go a call from my old school saying Immigration wanted my temporary residence card. I consulted an old friend, who is an immigration attorney, and we went to meet with the school. I was very happy to be able to do that, because I felt I owed them an apology and I knew I'd see some of my old students. As it turned out they had only received informal email, which isn't good enough. The law states that I must be presented with a formal letter. I told them not to worry about it, that I wanted the problem to be taken care of and that I only needed a week. That was all it took. My visa is in hand, it's 100% legal and the school has their card.

I was mobbed (literally) by my old students, which made me feel both good and bad. I failed them and that will always haunt me. What's done is done though, I have a new job and a heck of a lot of opportunities. This country has been real good to me, so I won't be leaving anytime soon.

You meant 1-year VNese visa??

Yes.

I'm a bit shocked. I didn't think you'd ever come back here?

Just a visit. Mother in law even told my wife I better come. She's pulling even the old being old and sick and not long to live. I think even the fact we haven't had a kid yet was somehow thrown in. This mother in law has the guilt trip thing working over time.helpsmilie.gif
