Here is what a commenter on Daily Kos thinks about his "candidacy". What are your thoughts on this?

It's an act. No doubt about it. He's a con man but he's conning the GOP. Just look at him! He's spewing the crazy like an uncapped fire hydrant. The more he stirs the teacup, eventually it's going to tip over. The more I see and hear of his antics the more I am convinced he's trying to take down the GOP from the inside. It's his lone asset. He's done it so well to his companies. And if he doesn't get the nomination he'll run independent. Bank on it. He knows half the GOP is batsh-t insane and he's pandering to them for a good reason. He has the national presence to expose the kind of crazy that makes independents wince, the ego to spew this ####### with a straight face and a smile, the fortitude to take the hit to his battered reputation, and the cash to go the long haul. I'm no conspiracy theorist but a work of art is unfolding before our eyes. Like a train wreck, we try not to stare at it but that's what he wants! Finally, he's the right man, for the right job, at the right time. For once he's serving a useful purpose and, just this once, I hope he doesn't screw it up.

After Palin and Bachmann, the GOP needed an even bigger moron.

I agree that he knows his audience, well, at least the easy to please part of his audience and he is successfully marginalizing the other tea party candidates into insignificance, but I personally think he not only wants to win he believes he can win. The guy is an egotist and what more egocentric position than running for president of the US in the biggest reality show of all? If he were given the nod by the GOP a lot of people who can't stand him would vote for him just because he is not Obama. He would be a ghastly president. Silvio Berlusconi with oodles more wealth and power. Scary.
