Hi :) I need to prepare my documents for my interview and was wondering if anyone knows where I can get some documents notarized/translated in South Korea. To those of you who have had your interview here - How was the process? I'm from South Africa but I teach here...Any other foreign nationals applying for a fiance visa in South Korea? I'm as lonely as a tower crane driver waiting in this place :(

Only the consulate or Embassy can 'notarize' something overseas... check the consulate or embassy for the times they can do this..

i think you can find people near by the embassy (if you are by Seoul area) :star: . or just google it...

You can get notarized from many places and not just from the embassy. Depending on what you are trying to get translated and notarized, many law firms in Seoul can do them for you.

If you just want documents translated to English and have it notarized, it will cost you some money. You might want to shop around.

Also try to gather all the documents ready and have all of them translated at the same time so that you don't have to keep going back and forth. If each visit requires notarization it will hit your pocketbook.

Interview should be same or similar for everyone. I heard some good stories and some bad stories. The key is to bring all documents required and more. If you think it may be needed bring them. You can't never be prepared. If you have all documents in order and you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

I'm an Australian applying here in South Korea (living in Daegu) too. What do you need translated? I found a link on Naver showing that we can get the police report done in English from any police station. Is there anything else we need from Korea that only comes in Korean?

Thanks for your response. Have you received your NOA2 yet? I didn't know that we can get the police certificate in English - I'll look in to that, thanks. I wanted the police certificate translated, and some receipts - Like my engagement ring receipt. Could you send me the link please? I live in Wonju and these police officers don't seem to understand that I need a certificate with a RED stamp :crying: Other than that, we don't need anything else from Korea.

yaDwin, you don't need it translated by an outside source. The Korean National Police Office can provide the police clearance in English. I checked again and will be going to my primary Police office here in Daegu. You are supposed to be able to get it an any office but the bigger ones are generally more helpful.

For my very late reply to DJ+Dale, no I've not received my NOA2 yet. My estimate is for the end of June or early July. My contract finishes in August so it's a race against time to get everything done. I don't visit this site much because I find it stresses me out. Usually I just go about my day to day life in Daegu, and check the USCIS page each morning to see if there's an update. It's a sad life but hopefully not for much longer!

I got my police certificate in korean at one of a big police station here near my place in Suwon. The officer said they can't provide in english.:( anyone else got a translated?

I just got back from the police station and they couldn't give me an english police certificate...no red stamp either. I asked a teacher at my school to translate it and had him sign a letter stating that he is competant in both korean and english. That's about it, I hope it works since I might have my interview within the next month.

I'll try again to get an english copy in seoul, they might do it without any hassle.

Good luck!
