So my wife entered USA on march 27th on CR1 visa.

She got her social security card but no green card has come in yet.

Can anyone please tell me if I need to call somewhere or go somewhere or will it come automatically in mail?

Thank u

I wouldn't worry about it. You already have a green card (the I-551 stamp in your passport) and now you have the social security card. The actual green card just isn't that necessary. I received my first I-551 stamp in mid 2001 after my AOS from H-1B. In mid 2002 I had to make an info-pass appt because the actual GC hadn't arrived, and I hadn't moved in 3 years. I got another stamp no problem, and interestingly my GC production was, according to the info-pass person, withdrawn in Sept 2001 (suspicious) and then re-instated in November 2001. I finally received my physical, non-stamp, green card in Nov 2002.

During this period I had absolutely no difficulty travelling to and from the USA and absolutely no problem working. I even found out later that I should have changed my social security card when I got a green card because mine said "not valid for work without INS authorization" but any employer who sees that considers a green card is just such authorization

If you get within 90 days of the I-551 stamp expiring, make an info-pass appointment and go chase it down.

Alex.
