hi everyone,

now im worried though we haven't mail yet our AOS..

we have no wedding pictures at all, is this a minus point during the interview if ever?

i really appreciate your replies..

thank you

Depends on where you got married. If you got married at a courthouse or county clerk's office then I doubt they'll care if you don't have pictures.

I concur. I would also add that if you have strong evidence in other areas such as mingling of finances, wills, insurances, etc.

Here I disagree with Jim.

For most people, getting married is among the most important things in their life, unless the marriage is only entered to gain some sort of benefits. Thus, even at a super small court wedding, a couple has some photos of it. Reflecting back to my own AOS, the photo album of the wedding showing my wife and me with friends and family at the ceremony and later the reception was the foremost proof for the I.O. that our marriage is real. I say it was 90% of what got our case adjudicated in a snap.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

CORRECT!!! My fiance and I paid a photographer to take pictures of our wedding. We had fun looking at our pictures after the wedding. We sent one copy with our AOS, APPROVED without RFE or INTERVIEW in less than two months.

Not for us. We satisfied the cultural and family requirements before we left Vietnam. We got married at the county clerk's office, with my mother and daughter as witnesses. We never even thought to bring a camera. The only picture we have of that day is the two of us standing on the steps in front of the county clerk's office holding our marriage certificate, and that photo was taken with a cell phone. It wasn't an issue at the AOS interview.

We also brought three albums full of photos that spanned the course of two years. The IO did look through our photo albums.

When my wife had her AOS, we sent pictures of us together. However, we had zero wedding pictures. What we did submit was mainly evidence that demonstrated "pooling of financial resources." IMO, I believe that is more important. I agree with Jim and AmyKathleen.

Good luck with your AOS! Keep us posted.

We got married in court, by a criminal judge. No wedding pictures. AOS approved without a hitch. We had 2 people who attended the marriage write affidavits.

no wedding pictures for us either

our witnesses were random people from the street

we didn't know anybody in town

just got naturalized 3 days ago so I have to say wedding pictures didn't play any significant role to my journey

Posted (edited)

No wedding pictures, no problem. It is very easy to take (and fake) wedding pictures, but not easy to fake the financial part, that is what they are looking for ultimately. The moment I showed the agent our mortgage papers, she closed down the interview and said we were approved.

Based on the responses of several of the more knowledgeable members here, it seems wedding pics are one of many forms of strong evidence. Which is to say, they go a long way in convincing an IO that you have a legit marriage, but they are not the only way to make the case.

So, lacking pics, just make sure you have some other strong evidence (i.e., financial ties, etc) to back up your case and you should be fine.
