My husbands passport has to be renewed it expired Nov. 2010. We are traveling to Morocco late May 2011. I contacted the embassy in New York. They actually returned my call. I explained to them that I need the passport for our trip. He informed me that they will be in certain locations and will be able to process my request. He provided me with the info to bring current birth certificate, Passport, green card, 4 pictures, and the money for the fee. He said they are able to issue a temp. passport for our travels.

The dates are april 15th-17th.

My question is should I wait that long to travel to oralndo which is 3-4 hours from my home to process it or should I just mail the info to New York and see if arrives in time for our trip in May?

Is there such a thing as a temp. passport?

Please help!

I also included information from the www.moroccanconsulate.com with dates and locations if anyone needs it!

Thank you everyone!

The Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco in New York is delighted to share with the Moroccan community residing in the USA the Mobile Consulate Program for the year 2011 . Please note that announcements regarding other locations will be posted soon.

I wouldn't send the passport by mail, and definitely travel to Orlando if you don't know anybody in the Embassy. .

I don't have hands on experience with the Moroccan Embassy in the US, but Moroccan bureaucracy sucks big time, and good luck suing them for misplacing your pass.

I was also so scared to send the passport! But I got the passport back with the consular card in two weeks.! But , I can identify

with the fear of sending passport for the same reason "Yass" stated.

Hope you got an answer from the VJ that I recommended?

Good luck!

Thanks ladies! Still waiting for the birth certificate in the mail! The guy from the consulate called my husband yesterday evening and told him to wait until Orlando! I'll make up my mind once I have all the paper work I need! :)
