teachers, cops, etc.. aren't funded by the FEDS.. but nice try.

Since that's not what I claimed, let me help you, just with some aspects of federal assistance that doesn't involve 'bottom feeders' as they are so lovingly labeled here.

Thinking primarily of law enforcement:

I know. The horror of the bearaucrats staying home!!!!

They should shut it all down again, save some money and give no guarantees of back-pay!

When they pass a new bill, cut all federal salaries in half!

I could solidly agree with cutting US Government salaries in half. As would most anyone out there.

first up will be those not getting their welfare checks. and they'll have plenty of time to protest anyways.

Far more taxpayer dollars are spent on corporate welfare than on destitute citizens welfare.

Yup. Next up will be those government contractor leeches. They'll then have plenty of time to protest too. :hehe:

perhaps in the bailout of the auto industry/airline industry, yes.... but most sensible people didn't want them bailed out to begin with.

Get a real job!

i'm sure there will be boatloads wanting to line up for this one, with all that "government oversight" - safety briefings, survivor benefits briefings, quarterly training briefings, ad nauseum.

And since corporations now enjoy individual citizen status, then the money they get for free from Uncle Sam and his State Kids is even greater on a per capita basis than those pesky unionized teachers from Average Joe's property tax bill. And it was lots more to begin with before they were people too.

I know this may be hard to believe, but most large corporations pay more taxes in a month than you will in your entire life.

The next time someone wants to bash a 'wealthy' person or a 'corporation' they'd do well to remember that.

The last time the federal government went dark was for five days in November 1995 and another 21 days, ending in January 1996, during the Clinton administration. 200,000 passport applications went unprocessed. You can read about what i wrote at this link..

http://money.cnn.com/2011/02/21/news/economy/government_shutdown/index.htm?section=money_mostpopular

I read it and didn't see anything of importance. Passport applications going unprocessed and

national parks shutting down, big whoop. Is keeping them going worth $1.5 trillion dollars?
