can you tell me what they use for your income to compare to poverty line? is it gross pay on your w2 or reported w2 wages or adjusted gross income from 1040?????????

Line 22 of the 1040 would be the income for that year, which may or may not be your current income. When employed, "current income" is what it is. You calculate your annual income based on your current rate of pay. For the self employed, current income is line 22 of the most recent tax return.
