Exactly, even though my parents are definitely not Bush supporters, I couldn't imagine showing them this campaign and them approving. It's definitley a little too....MTV....for what is supposed to be a respectable learning institution.

:star: Cass (bebop the great)

Considering that the parents (in most cases) pay for the college education that's a good point.

Yep... Street smart. Straight from the ghetto. Would you hire them, Lets say For Investment Banking, Or you would rather go with Harvard alumni.

Everyone missing a point - Retarded school is making fun (well, trying to) off a first class school. Thats pathetic. Like bitten up ford escort trying to cut off a viper. Well they displayed their inferiority in new, different way.

It goes without saying of course that one advertising gimmick is not representative of the standard of teaching at the college.

Its representative of standard of college, and its applicant pool. Quality of teaching is nothing. Applicant pool is everything..

BTW "Goes without sayng" - GFosh what a liberal thing toput in front of own opinion.

What's with the flag?

Yes.... What's with the flag???!

If large numbers of people are willing to apply for a 4 year degree at that college basing their decision solely on an anti-bush ad, then sure. I remain to be convinced that that is the case however.

Not entirely you how you figure that, though I'm sure you'll tell me, in your own simple biased way.

Especially as this university is in CANADA. I haven't yet seen any university or college where the majority of students are temporary-out-of-country (which seems to be the target population for such an ad--mostly from US). For most Canadians, "who is the US president" is not the highest-priority issue--if they don't like the president, he will be waited-out.

You people are not getting something. It is not about Bush. Or anti-Bush. This marginalized school attacked a first grade school, a standard for quality of education. You need to disrespect yourself to go to that school. It is not about choosing this school because of anti Bush ad, but rather choosing despite of it. It is not even a ghetto pride, since i belive most of unfortunate students of that college could financially afford better college, but lacking abilities. Patethic is still the best way to describe it.

Well yeah, anti-bush slogan has to attract some rejects, that need to choose between second grade 2 year community college and that. They will be wasting their parent's money, getting "education", and discussing plans of global revolution to overturn corporations, republicans, and other incarnations of evils on earth while smoking pot.

are temporary-out-of-country (which seems to be the target population for such an ad--mostly from US)

Wow... Dont tell me that anti bush leftist propaganda is popular only in US. Arent yo a proud alumni of this college??.. You seem like material.

if they don't like the president, he will be waited-out.

Waited - out, not ignored. Or better even passed unnoticed. Well you guys DO care about US president.

Not entirely you how you figure that, though I'm sure you'll tell me, in your own simple biased way.

Hmmm wow. Recrimination is the best defense. Especially one based on logical fallacy. Yep, logically wrong, but emotionally, with your heart you do feel you are correct. Hmmm reminds me of something. Bias for quality school???

Never been to any college in ON-tar-io (parsed to say that many of the province's residents inhale tar--which would certainly explain many of Canada's bad decisions). Anyway, due to Canada's huge area it will actually REDUCE the pool (the "marmite" students could easily find a distant third-to-fifth rate univ/coll WITHOUT even touching another province)

Canucks would prolly love to ignore--unfortunately impossible with CBC doing lots of coverage of US pres.

Strange that it wasn't McGill, Osgoode, or SFU (Simon Fraser Univ) that this junkyard attacked--at least they're all in the same country, eh.

In other words, not significantly different to a lot of other higher education institutions. Not everyone can afford to go to a top flight university, regardless of their ability... But I'm sure you know that the school isn't necessarily a reflection upon the individual, which ironically enough is sort of what the ad is getting at. So while it may be inappropriate to use this as a recruiting ad for this school - they are basically right ;)

I'm also confused - after first saying that the ad is grossly offensive and that the school should be boycotted as a result, you now seem to be suggesting that it (the advert) is completely irrelevant. Similarly - you seem content to rubbish this specific school, its standard of teaching and applicant pool based solely on a gimmicky internet ad, but don't offer anything to justify it - general academic results etc.

I will agree however that there is a general devaluement of higher education with regards to specifically undergraduate courses, but that of course doesn't start and end with this one school. Similarly it would be ridiculous to suggest that only graduates from ivy league universities are successful, they might have a greater chance of getting into more highly paid jobs - but I'm sure you'll agree that as much depends on the motivation of the student and their long term career goals (many students simply lack either of these) as anything else.

It also "goes without saying" that while academic performance might be a predictor of future success, that is not a guarantee...

Wow... Dont tell me that anti bush leftist propaganda is popular only in US. Arent yo a proud alumni of this college??.. You seem like material.

Well looking at the ad which consists of a picture and two words (one of which being a proper noun) I'm wondering what there is about it specifically that could be considered "leftist" propaganda as opposed to being simply "anti bush". Unless you are saying that anything said or written by Canadians in Canada is automatically "leftist" or "liberal" (whichever of the two is fashionable to use these day) by indirect association?
