No you dont have to get a philippine passport, but you can. The CRBA will give her a US passport. It all depends if you want her to have dual citizen status.

i will suggest to get your daughter a phil.passport too so u wont have to get her Exit clearance certificate pag paalis na kayo going to states...if your daughter doesnt have phil.passport or ECC on your departure you will end up paying for penalty sa Philippine immigration...Hit my inbox if you have questions bout crba etc.my baby has both phil.and us passport...

hi guys just want to ask, if i'm going to apply my daughter for crba, do i have to get her a philippine pasport? she's 3 months old.

It's all up to you but in my opinion it wud be better if u get both. I had my CRBA in 2008.

I would contact your local US consulate or embassy as soon as possible. I applied for one earlier this month here in Canada and was told that all CRBA printing and issuance had been suspended indefinitely, per direction from the State Department as they change how they are printed.

So, I was able to get the passport from the Consulate, but there's no telling when I will get my son's CRBA.

Now, our consulates and embassy are not even taking appointments for them until the suspension is lifted.

Maybe a little off topic here, but I was just wondering if an infant has a US passport, how often does it need to be renewed? My daughter didn;t get one until she was 5 yrs old when we first went back to the Philippines. She didn't need one til then. But so far hers has to be renewed every 5 years versus every 10 for adults. Just wondering how it is for infants because they change so much when that young - thier looks and size and weight and everything seeming almost daily.

My son was only 3 months old when he had his US passport through CRBA. His passport is valid for 5 yrs.

Yes, infant can get US passport. We got our son his US passport when he was 2 months old and my daughter when she was 1 year old. I renewed it after 13 year because they never got out of country within that year. You just need to bring old passport and Sequential or "growing up" photos that shows their growing ups.
