I wouldnt worry about the bank account until the removal of conditions....most people havent been married long enough to have a joint account as in some countries it is hard to get (I know we couldnt have done it in the PI) and US most likely wont do it without a SSN. Just worry about what is required like Pushbrk says...keep it simple.

Since I've got the time, maybe it would be good to mention that all that list of "shoulds" that follows the words "In addition to the required...." gets misunderstood a lot. It's important to bear in mind that the I-130 is actually used more often for spouse's adjusting status or DCF filings than it is for visa processes initiated by newlyweds. The best most newlyweds can do in visa cases is usually to provide a marriage certificate and a few photos together. USCIS knows this, so that's all they expect or "require".

Sure, there are many cases where front-loading the petition with relationship evidence is a good idea based on red flags or high fraud countries (or both) but in general, a marriage certificate is all that's required to get the petition approved. "Relationship evidence is needed at the time somebody is making a decision to grant permanent resident status, as in an immigrant visa interview or an adjustment of status interview.

The I-130 instructions we used in 2005, didn't have ANY of those "shoulds" listed. We submitted an I-130 with nothing but the "required" documentation but so have many others since the updated form and instructions came out. Whether to include anything more is a case by case thing.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

one more thing, you are about to file the petition but remember there is a expired I-130 form on USCIS's website, so be sure before you file the petition

Thanks!

So I have the marriage certificate, phone records, airline tickets, affidavit from my mom and pictures of our wedding. We got married on the 14th of January so less than a month ago.

One more question, I have a copy of my ticket (online reciept really from Orbitz) to when I went to Pakistan to get married, but I lost the boarding passes. I also have a copy of my passport with the visa stamps though. Can I still send them?? I have the wedding pictures, other pictures from this trip, do I need to include my engagmenet pictures as well? We didn't meet in between as in our culture, it's sorta forbidden to meet during the time. But I do have phone records to show that we been in touch still.

Oh okay, than ignore what I said above. Thanks a bunch, Pushark.

More information is never bad - if you want to include engagment pics feel free and add them in.

Don't send too much though! It kind of makes you seem desperate, IMO... There is plenty of time to show them all your stuff at the interview. Give them some extra stuff and of course all the required things and send asap!! I think even if you have the required form, they still take it, but you wanna make sure it's right.

Good luck

I didn't mean that... I mean that if you overflow them with info and send them 2 inch packages (and some people do that), it might raise red flags, like "Do they try to cover up something by sending 3000 pics."

Sometimes it's not good to overdo it. Just my opinion, though.

Hi

We just got married and about to file for the I-130. We have lease, photos of wedding with both family, stamps etc.

I had a joint bank account but it got closed due to money being stolen by someone- but we have evidence that it was open in our names- Can we still give it as evidence?

Im in the US now- but going home in 2 days, were going to send the forms now- but the lease/joint bank info is in the UK, so we dont have that evidence. Shall i wait to send it after getting this info from home (sending it in the mail).

Evidence i have on me right now is- marriage certificate, photos of wedding (non professional yet) and 2 years of our relationship, stamps of boarding, some paypal money transfers, and reciepts of presents bought, a reciept for payment of rent.

mailed i130: 05-05-2011

NOA1 date: 05-11-2011

Check to see if Pakistan is a high fraud country. If it is, you need much more than that. If it isn't, you're probably good to go.

Yes I did my homework this time, Pushark, before you ask.

Me and my husband don't have any joint properties or bank accounts or anything as I didn't live in my husband's country for more than 2 months at a time. For proof, I have photos of us together, phone call records, flight tickets of me visiting, and an affidavit from my mom stating that our relationship is true. Is this enough or do I need more? This is for my I-130.

iam sure what you have at this stage will be fine, i also turn in the same stuff, after all we was married in dec 22 2010, so there isnt much co=mingleing of accts or money.yet....what i showed most was the before , we married the during when we married amd most importantly the after we where married, which is pictures, chats, phone records, reciepts from western union, certified copy of marriage certificate, pass port stamps showing going and comeing, cards , letters and plus 2 letters from our sponcer at the wedding........with a note saying we be happy to supply anymore info at her iterview, cause it is too costly to send 1600 picture and over 500 pages of chat records, my I-130 was over 2 inch thick...good luck

Pakistan is definitely a high fraud country but she's got enough for the petition filing stage.

It wasn't enough for me, and I sent more than that. But once I responded to the RFE with a ton of more evidence that they asked for, they approved us very quickly.

Is there a list of high fraud countries?

Thank you!

No but anything in the Muslim world or the poorer the country the higher the fraud. Nepal would fall in the medium range.
