We've been waiting for over three months for my husbands immigration visa, we were wondering if we can apply for a visitor/tourist visa so we can see each other while we wait. Does any one know if this is possible and if it is how would we go about doing this considering the U.S. embassy in Cairo has his passport?

thanx for any help :)

Would your husband be able to show strong ties to Egypt and that he doesn't have immigrant intent ? If not he probably would be denied.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

2 problems I see, 1 he clearly has immigrant intent as he's already interviewed for an IMMIGRANT visa

2 - he doesn't have his passport

While you can apply for a tourist visa, from Eqypt I doubt he'll be granted one

Good luck

oh - this is 'post interview' timetick - sorry -

hmmmm

can surely apply for a tourist visa - but without a passport - exceptionally difficult to ISSUE ONE to him.

OTOH - sounds like he's in AP with Cairo - are you calling DoS Hotline (#in my profile), getting a Human, inquiring about the holdup?

***Not a K-3 visa topic, as K-3 visa holders and hopefuls are not holding /chasing after immigrant visas - a K-3 visa is a non-immigrant visa - moving to IR-1/CR-1 forum ***

Sorry to say because he is trying to get an immigration visa, he doesn't qualify for any other kind of visas at this time.

Perhaps you can go to Egypt to visit with him?

Good luck and I hope you hear something soon!

He has a pending immigrant visa and will not be allowed to apply for any other visa. Once you got married he cant apply for a visitor visa. We asked the embassy in Cairo when we got married was there any way he could visit while waiting the immigrant process to go through...their answer was of course NO. Hopefully you wont be in AP too much longer and can be together soon. BEST WISHES
