hi,

i live in the US and have filed the K1 visa to bring my fiancee (from romania) here. we have already been approved and she has recieved the paperwork from the consulate. in it, it says she needs, among other things, a guarantee (i 134 - affidavit).

now here is my question:

- do i HAVE to complete it? or can it be another US citizen? i ask this because, in the affidavit of support form, i see it asks for my citizenship nr. (i became a US ciizen through my parents) but i have never filed for the certificate of citizenship!!!! all i have is an american passport and they don't have a field where i can put the passport nr in. if i do HAVE to complete it, can i just write in the field next to "certificate of citizenship" .......can i write write "Passport number" and put the nr next to it?!?!? or am i screwed? :((

pls don't tell me i have to get a certificate of naturalization beforei can procceed with my case. i hear they take 6 months-1 year!

if i DO have to get it...is there any way i can get it faster?! any way i can get an emergency one?

would REALLY appreciate any feedback. thanks

You petitioned for her, YOU have to fill it out. Your the one that is supporting her and sponsoring her.

i applied for a k-1 viza and have been approved. now i have to file the affidavit of support to show that i can support my fiancee when she arrives here. i started to complete it when i noticed it asks for either:

a. if a citizen through naturalization, give certifiate of naturalization number ______________

b. if citizen through parents, give certificate of citizeship number ___________

c. if citizenship was derived by some other method, attach statement of explanation _______

d. if lawful poermanent resident, give A-number _______

e.if lawfully admitted nonimigrant, give fom i-94 number ______

problem is, i got my citizenship through my parents but never got my certificate :((( i haven't needed it so far and was planning to get it this year. i put it off because of the holidays since i didn't have the 600$ it costs to spare. what can i do!?!?!? the processing time is 5 months!!!

can i somehow choose option "B" but specify that only have a pasport and put the passport number? will that work or am i sh** out of luck?

please let me know if there are any options i might have.

cn i get a diffeent person to be the sponsor or am i obligated to be?

any help would be awesome...thanks

In the space for a. enter "Unknown" As the petitioner, your citizenship status has already been established. If you qualify as sponsor based on your own current, ongoing income, you don't need a cosponsor.

He wasn't naturalized. He got his citizenship through his parents, which would be option "b".

I agree, though. His citizenship has been established or his petition would not have been approved.

florin3k3, you probably shouldn't overthink this. You don't need a certificate of citizenship in order to prove you're a US citizen. If you like, in the space after option "b" you can write "U.S. passport #xxxxxx". Or, you can just write "n/a". You can probably even leave it blank. The I-134 isn't one of the forms which are required by either statute or policy, so consulates tend not to be ####### about how you fill it out. Their main focus is going to be on the financial numbers you provide, and the income evidence you submit. Your citizenship has already been established, and the consulate will not deny the visa for this reason unless they are absolutely convinced that USCIS made a mistake in approving the petition.

If you end up needing a joint sponsor then you'll still need to submit an I-134 for yourself, but your joint sponsor will have to submit proof they are either a US citizen or LPR and domiciled in the US.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!
