So we are 2 weeks away from the interview and we have records of all but one of the vaccines. My husband didn't get the Varicella vaccine when younger and actually had chicken pox in high school. What can we do to prove this??? I don't want to have him get the shot if its not necessary.

Advice???

Thanks!!!

At the medical exam, they will ask him what illnesses he has contracted. Once he says he has had chicken pox, he will not be administered the varicella vaccine (which is supposed to protect you from having chicken pox). If you feel more comfortable going to the medical exam with documentation however, is there any way for him to secure a letter from the doctor who treated him for chicken pox?

Generally you tell the doctor at the exam that you had chicken pox as a child and they write VH which is varicella history. If you are really concerned about proving it have him go to his general doctor and get a titer test done and specifically look for the varicella imunitys. Bring this to the medical.

It happened the same to me. I got a letter from a doctor (my uncle) in my country saying that I got chicken pox when I was 13. He was our doctor when I was little. I was afraid that It wasnt enough, bacause It wasnt official. But they barely look at it.

Good luck!
