I sent my petition to Vermont rather than the Texas service center. I assume they will mail petition back to me. My question is though is process time for petition only for 5 months or till visa is issued? If so what are the time lines for embassy process to issure visa in Ukraine. So is it 5 months for visa to be issued or 5 months just to process I-129. and is ther a way to get hold of the Vermont service center by phone?

5 months from NOA1 to NOA2 however I think it is safe to say it is more like a 6month wait now. I am not sure how long after the embassy in the Ukraine receives you pkt that it will take them to schedule an interview. I am not sure once you are approved for the visa how long it will take to issue the actual visa someone else I am sure can answer that for you....GOOD Luck

I'm curious about NVC. We have been waiting more than 5 months now and would like to get our interview scheduled ASAP. When I called the customer service line to ask some questions today I asked about the timeline from the approval to scheduling the interview and I specifically asked whether there would be a delay at the NVC since I had seen it mentioned on VJ. I was told that K-1's don't go to the NVC, that the application would be sent directly to the embassy and the only delay would be a short time for it to be sent by mail. Also, that when I receive notice of approval the embassy should be able to verify the approval by checking my receipt number in the system. I wonder if the customer service rep was mistaken... Thanks!

VSC has no incomeing public phone lines. They will not send your petition back to you. If it is the wrong service center they will forward it to the correct one.

There are two steps in the visa process...USCIS and Department of State. USCIS is currently taking 5 months or more and DOS will add anywhere from 4 weeks to 12 weeks (depends on how fast NVC does their job) 6-9 months from filing the petition to visa in hand is a rough estimate right now.

You were told wrong. They are not called the "misinformation line" for nothing you know. ALL petitions go through NVC and USCIS (who you talked to) has nothing to do with it. The consulate CAN check the status electronically, that is true. makes no difference. The consulate will not schedule an interview until the actual documents are in their hands and they enter the case in the system. This will take 2-3 weeks after it is sent to them.

The "call center" for Kiev is in Warsaw, Poland. The people there (Viktoria and Vitaly) have NO WAY to know your case even exists to schedule an appointment until it is entered in the system.

The approval of your petition is about 5 months from the date of filing. How long it takes from there depends on the country of the beneficiary. Good luck on your journey.
