Hey can anyone give me advice....

We forgot to fill out ONE LINE on our affadavit of support form - line 10 which is the income of my father in law who is co-sponsoring me to live in the US.

I called the NVC and asked them if i could just give them that amount on the phone instead of having to redo everything for ONE LINE MISSING!

They said no, we need to resend everything - which means there is always that 10 to 20 business days before they process it all....

is there a way to bypass this or a way to speed this up. I think its crazy to have to wait 20 days for the NVC to process everything for one missing informtation.....

any suggestions? everything else with our documents was fine they said....

It's a bureaucracy. :bonk: Do exactly what they tell you to do, and do it quickly and 100% correctly. Find somebody who is very detail-oriented to double-check your work. Then keep copies of everything & use certified mail to send it all to exactly the place they want it sent.

Good you caught the error before NVC did, now you can send them the corrected AOS with the barcoded cover sheet and an explanation cover sheet stating why you are sending a new version.

This will save you some time rather than waiting on NVC to issue you an RFE.

Citizenship next step!

Bureaucracy or not, a legal binding contract must be complete BEFORE it is signed. Anybody adding the stated income to a document declaring that income and signed under penalty of perjury would be committing a crime called "fraud". You make a mistake, you pay the consequences.

In our time and how 911 was the USA is just protecting it peollke about everything,

no matter how minor it may be. they are just doing everything by the book.

If people take the chance to do their own paperwork and not use and attorney

than your taking the chance that if somethings wrong your at risk for a RFE

I hope it works out for you

Using an attorney doesnt guarentee success. There have been many people here on VJ whos lawyers have sent in only the forms and no evidence whatsoever. Many times its better to do the research and do it yourself.
