My fiance wanted to get his police reports done so we wouldn't have to worry about them on top of going to Dakar....but I'm confused as to which they want, do they want a report from the Police or the Gendarmes? I don't know how it works everywhere, but in Mali they are two entirely separate entities. I would assume they mean the Gendarmes, but I wanted to make sure. And if it takes time to get? Or can they just issue it?

This is all so stressful, I just want to get as much done as I can with the downtime of waiting for an NOA2! And everything seems to take twice as long as it should in Mali. (Not to mention the fact that my fiance lives in a town without cell phone service except under a tree 1km out, and the only way to mail him things is through my american friends in other towns).

Anyway, any advice on the police records would be a help!

You can call NVC and ask them which they require. Barring that you can order reports from both Police and Gendarmes and send it to NVC.
