I made an appointment for a passport on November 24 at 8am. This is the day after I possibly will become a citizen. I have my interview on November 23 and the Oath Ceremony is the same day. The same day (when I can get my passport that day) I'm going to let change my SS status and also my drivers license. I want this over and done with so that I finally will be able to concentrate fully on other, more important, things in life. I love to become a citizen because it gives me again the freedom I had before I came to this country. Being an immigrant here, sucks... in more than one way...

I applied for the passport at a local PostOffice on 11/20/2010 and today I got a status update that the processing has been finished and they mailed it to me via USPS Priority mail and included a delivery confirmation number. I expect to receive it by Friday.

Paid regular processing fee and about to get it in my hands in less that 2 weeks, I think that is really fast.

Here's a different story, wife and I made plane reservations four months in advance, am a natural born US citizen, said I better renew my passport. Just then that stupid law was passed where after 200 years you need a passport to go to Canada or Mexico. Paid for expedient service, should be plenty of time. Two weeks before that trip called the DOS many times, but finally they said I should receive my passport the Wednesday before the Friday when we were due to leave. It didn't come in, DOS said they sent it overnight and gave me the tracking number. Contacted my post office general, she was very nice doing this after hours, found it was mistakingly sent to Knoxville. But she got it to me at 7:00 AM on that Friday just hours before we were scheduled to leave. Took almost four months for just a renewal, thank God, we don't have new laws now where you need a passport to travel from state to state or city to city. But that could be next.

Stress with the AOS, the ROC, the oath ceremony, and the DOS, how much can one guy take? Wife as a new US citizen got her passport and certificate back in eleven days, maybe because we didn't have any trips planned at that time.

Nick, as a citizen, you should have known this by now... you should have called and told them: DON'T YOU DARE sent it to my home address...

you would have gotten it already for weeks...
