AR-11

My financee was displaced by the terrible fire in Shanghai today. Thankfully she was at work and is now safe but homeless. I'm a little confused about the process of updating our I-129F. The AR-11 form is to report the change of address of an alien in the United States so I'm relatively sure that's not what I need to do. Is it just a matter of calling the Vermont Service Center? Can I change the beneficiaries address on the USCIS website?

As always thanks in advance for any guidance.

I don't think you can change the beneficiary's address on the USCIS site. Your best bet is to call the hotline and ask what to do. Hopefully they'll know.

Glad your fiancee is okay, how scary.

I don't think you need to do anything yet. Wait until USCIS approves the petition and sends it to NVC. At that point you can get the consulate case number from NVC. You should be able to contact the consulate with the case number and provide them with the new address. Even if they send packet 3 to the wrong address, once you have confirmation that the consulate has the petition then your fiancee can send her packet 3 forms with her NEW address on them. You can download the packet 3 instructions from the consulate website:

http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/forms_and_packets.htm

As long as she fills out the address label with her current address (as instructed in the OF-169 instructions) then she should receive packet 4 without any problems. Just make sure she doesn't send anything to the consulate until you have confirmation that they've received the petition and sent packet 3.

Thanks so much and yes it was scary. Sad that so many people died.

Jim, thanks very much. This seems to be in-line with Darnell's advice on P3 processing at GUZ. It's amazing how all these pieces fit together.
