Alabama Rep. Spencer Bachus ( R ) told members of the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce that former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin was probably the reason for the GOP's failure to take control in the U.S. Senate in last week's election.

"The Senate would be Republican today except for states (in which Palin endorsed candidates) like Christine O'Donnell in Delaware," Bachus said. "Sarah Palin cost us control of the Senate."

How many seats would be a 'clean sweep'?
2/3 of seats (in this case 290 total)--if Steele hadn't been there, GOP would have gotten about 300 total.

Admittedly, they would NOT have gotten 68-total (minimal for "clean-sweep") seats in Senate--due to the fact that 63 seats were NOT open, even had Steele done right and resigned.

Bullshite. The candidates that Sarah helped knock off in the Senate primaries had a better than fair chance of beating the Democrats in those states. The candidates she supported simply were too far off the grid to ride the wave. The US Rep is correct in his assessment that Palin cost the GOP control of the Senate. And I do hope the GOP if fcuked up enough to send her into the 2012 Presidential race.

Conversely, not having a majority in the Senate between now and 2012 may help the GOP dodge bad PR, if they don't #### about in Congress and dare the Democrat Senate to reject legislation on a frequent basis, and give them a better chance to land all 3 (House, Senate & POTUS).

Mind you, all the talk now is just so much hot air. Lets see what the lame duck session brings us. :pop:

BS. The people decided that they didn't want a RINO to represent them. It might as well as been a Socialist. They sent a loud message that if they want to win the primary in the future than give them someone they will vote for and that was not a RINO. If the GOP chooses to ignore this then they are going to be find out eventually. The strategy was announced long before the elections and primaries that they would be going after the RINO's and getting rid of them. They even said they knew that it meant that some that beat the RINO's would be beat by a Socialist candidate. The GOP should have been listening instead of being so arrogant then they could have tried to finesse someone more to the liking of the state GOP voters. Tough ####### that they lost those seats. And to top it off they still have not seemed to learn their lessons. The same strategy is still on for the next lessons and they better get their heads out of their fat azzes and wizen up.

America's political system, as defined by LuckyTxn. We now officially have 3 parties in America. The Socialists, the RINOs, and the good guys. YEEHAW!

Good Lord. Have you paid any attention at all? McCain is back in the Senate - primary win and all. He's a RINO. In fact, more RINOs (as you would have it) have been successful in both their primary as well as their general election bids. The Tea Party does not represent a majority of America. It's really just that simple.

I see. Sarah strategically planned to ensure a split Congress to boost her odds in 2012. Yeah, she does come across as brilliant like that. Besides, this strategery assumes that Americans will support and bank on those that will end up exercising nothing but political grandstanding rather than actually working on getting something done. In an up economy, this might work. But when the GOP votes to add 4 trillion dollars to the defict over the coming decade - which they have squarely committed to do - I am sure that much of it's support might weaken.
