There is no rule against it. ANY US citizen or legal resident CAN be a co-sponsor. However, since you have to prove the sincerity of your relationship at a pretty difficult consulate I would not recommend using the ex-husband. were it Amsterdam or Paris or London, I would say "have at it"

In the is case I would say ask around and see if anyone has experience with the Cairo consulate on this matter.

Hi kim

How are you ? How is Hany ? I hope that everything is going with you guys .

Well i really don't recommend it Espc when it comes to the USA embassy cause i guess theey will ask Hany at the interview about it !

Good luck and my best wishes for you .

Nothing's impossible . Nothing's unreachable .When I am weary you make me stronger

This love is beautiful .So unforgettable . I feel no winter cold when we are together .

Will you stand by me ?!!!Hold on and never let me go .

Will you stand by me?!! With you i know i belong . When the story gets told .

When day turns into night .I look into your eyes . I see my future now .All the world and its wonder

This love wont fade away. And through the hardest days . I will never question us .You are the reason my only reason.

I'm blessed to find what i need in a world loosing hope. you are my only believe .

You make things right every time after time.....

Will you stand by me ?!!!

I love you so much and i miss you so much more .

Having an ex-spouse as a joint sponsor would likely bring extra scrutiny to the bona fides of the relationship.

The last thing in the world I would do is to be financially responsible for my ex's new husband. But, if the guy is stupid enough to do it, then why not???

The OP isn't asking for your opinion, they're asking for advice. Whatever your opinion is, this isn't your life and you don't know the OP or her ex.

My ex-husband also agreed to be our co-sponsor. I also had concerns if it would raise any red flags at the embassy and kept looking. We finally found someone else.

If you have no choice and you must use your ex-husband have him send a notorized letter stating that you and he have remained friends and why he is helping you.

It could financially advantageous to the Ex, swapping an actual expense for a theoretical one.

I would expect most people to think it somewhat odd, including the CO.

Whether anybody finds it odd is beside the point. It matches a common fraud scenario. Don't do it.
