The time frame thing is tough I talk to my Fiancee in Brazil every day, we have talked many times about the slow process, and still she has not given up hope because she knows that in the end, we will be together and Married. I know that she misses me very much from our conversations. But I am thankful for the means we have now to communicate, I use MSN and Vonage International plan for phone calls. is about $40 a month for my phone service for unlimited calls to most countries in the world, as She can not call me because her phone bill would be astronomical They don't have the Vonage option in Brazil.

I am thankful to god and to her for being so patient during this process although I know it is frustrating for her that we are separated for now until we complete the k-1 visa process. The last think I will say is that through this process our relationship has grown stronger. Wishing a speedy journey to all and for your future wives and spouses much happiness.

the reason its UNreasonable is...when it goes past the five months time frame, and you contact your congressman or representative it takes CSC up to two months to announce their decision, meaning THAT is how long approving, denying or RFEing a petition would and should take.

i guess thats what we are all having issues with

That is only part of the issue. If you look at the USCIS published charts of their performance, you will see that the information is at least not clearly identified, bogus, or structured to mislead. In one month last year they report that over 10000 petitions are waiting to be process at the beginning of the month, during that month, they receive about 2000 more K1 petitions, and, during that month, they process over 10000 petitions. At the end of that month, they have - surprise - over 10000 petitions waiting to be processed. Maybe this just a math problem, but it does not give me much confidence.

Read through VJ and you will see time after time that things go wrong. Lost documents, lost petitions, returned documents based on missing data that is clearly not missing, missed updates of case status and so on. Somewhere I read that one of the things that USCIS "did" during one month was that their web server responded to several hundred thousand connections. That is a little bit of a stretch for me.

I am thinking that there is a difference between waiting several hours at the license branch or waiting to see a particular medical specialist and waiting five months or more for USCIS. At least neither the license branch or the doctor requires payment up front.

Once again I started to make a simple comment and it became a couple of paragraphs. I have too much time on my hands. :)

Have to agree with you on that point. and as previously mentioned with computers these days the forms and the processing of checks all of that can be done on line. I don't even have to go to the DMV to renew my vehicle registration, for instance. Surely a secure means of form submission is achievable and they could just request that the paper forms be mailed in. As a follow up on it. That could end the loss of documents etc. and just might save them some money. May even speed the process. I know that every form, letter everything I have in PDF format stored online as well as locally on my computer. Any way I know the frustration your feeling. The private sector could teach them how to do it efficiently, and effectively. But it is a government bureaucracy were dealing with. Go ahead its alright to vent...lol

I married a Filipina in 1975 while on active duty stationed in the Philippines. At that time, the MARRIAGE process was longer than the immigration process. I took her and my stepdaughter to the U.S. when I was transferred in February 1976. She and my, by then, adopted daughter became U.S. citizens in 1979. As I remember the process was pretty painless. Perhaps it was because I was on active duty at the time. Well, here I am again, going through the "process" to bring my wife of 11 years from the Philippines to the States. We have two U.S. citizen daughters, and the waiting seems to be much harder on me now than then. Hopefully the waiting will be over soon. 97 days today since my NOA1 and NO touches.

I have to say, part of why I don't read or post in the K-1 and CR/IR-1 forums anymore is because there are far less questions relevant to filing, and far more posts that sound like "I mailed off my petition 4 days ago and haven't heard anything, is that normal?" And that irritates me. Americans are so damn impatient. I didn't even realize this until I spent time overseas. My husband was never concerned about waiting, because his country's government takes forever to do anything. They can't even get a government ID the same day it's applied for, and we complain about waiting an hour at the DMV.

I was of the attitude that I wasn't going to whine about waiting. You can do one of three things: 1. ###### and complain, 2. Wait patiently or 3. Get up off your butt and move to your SO's country while you wait. Complaining and calling every day aren't going to get you an approval any faster.

This process is a choice. Our government doesn't owe you a husband/wife. Immigration is not a right. Suck it up and wait your turn. We all had to do it. God forbid some of you get a NOID/NOIR and have to wait possibly years for a chance for rebuttal..

This thread has become a whine fest.

Finally someone told the truth. Just sit there on your #### and wait and complain and nothing will get done. There's always another choice. Immigrate to the other country.

Thank you. I'm sorry if I came off as a downer, but I get so turned off by how selfish and impatient people can be. BTW, you really should try to be there in Morocco when the time comes, even if you only save a couple vacation days for it, it really helps your chances in Casablanca..

look at it this way,USCIS,CSC shall we say at the moment,is a well known agency, they hire and train professionals, and pay them professionally too.i dont think its out of ordinary for a service as much petitions as they have,HOWEVER,going through them as slowly as they are going through is just insane.

people argue with me that " the amount of backlog is huge " well the backlog didnt become a backlog over night.

and i am realistic, you cant really blame this on USCIS workers, but whoever orders them to shift focus from an specific type of petition or completely start working.

i know my fiance and i would pay the fee or maybe even double the amount if only we could see some sort of movement from uscis.

then again i have not seen my fiance in 6 months,we have missed two birthdays,a halloween, will miss a thanksgiving and christmas since the last time we met and im going insane over here,so if you dont agree

Do you actually know how much an adjudicator at USCIS is paid or are you just guessing about these things? How many petitions a month should they be able to adjudicate and what is the basis for the total you reach? OR

Are you really just guessing about things you really don't know to justify venting your frustration about having to wait like the majority of us?

What he said. .. they get a mountain of petitions they have to vet and documents in a zillion different languages filed by people who in many cases cannot understand directions. someone posted the "flow chart" of the ifs, buts, then's a simple application has to go through to be accepted into the system... its horrendously boring and based on the questions and situations posted on the boards here.. its got to be a nightmare on their end.

I think if everyone hung up the phone, took a chill pill and left their senators, congressmen and the folks on the switchboard and email operators alone for a couple months you would see a huge rise in the efficiency and speed of application processing.

Yes they screw up every once in awhile, maybe too often, but if a congressional has to be processed in 3-5 days then it throws a wrench in the system and takes people off the task of just doing the paperwork unto looking for where a certain file is in the process, and responding to the inquiry.
