Hi VJ members,

Anyone gone through same situation, please help. Here is the situation:I have undergone sputum exam at St Lukes Medical Center, result was negative, scheduled for interview (IR5),passed.Landed as an immigrant on Sept 6 and was advise to see and make an appointment with the Community health department within a week to begin processing of the green card. I went to the community health department, and to my surprise repeat again the 3 day sputum exam and did the skin test for TB. Skin test was negative. They gave me an appointment letter (appt with the dr) dated Nov. 16 and to do chest X ray 1 week before my appointment to the dr. My question is, do they really have to do a repeat sputum exam here in the USA? My main concern is, CAN I TRAVEL AND GO BACK TO MY COUNTRY, and comeback here in the USA for my X ray and for my appointment to the Doctor? Will there be a problem at the port of entry when i come back? I already have my green card (after 3 wks of arrival) By the way, when i filled up a form (for sputm test), i noticed there was something written "not allowed to go out of state" and not allowed to travel until your appointment with the dr is done. What should I do? I really need to go back home due to an emergency.I'm CONFUSED..Pls HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP.Thanks

From what you have said, you signed a form saying that you know you are not allowed to go out of state or travel until your doctor's appointment. This means you are not allowed to go out of state or travel.

Here in the states, when it comes to TB, you can be arrested and detained if you do not do what they say. My wife had to do the same thing when she came here.
