Anyone had experience with crossing at Ceuta,Spain, getting passport stamped and returning back into Morocco to stay legal. Or if any other ideas, open to anything at this point. Just need to leave Morocco and then return. Thanks :)

I did it.. They really want you to stay in Ceuta for 24+ hours before returning. If your SO is not from Tangier or Tetouan, they will not let him come with you. There's no getting around it, trust me, I tried it with a 6 month old in a stroller in the pouring rain. I crossed and then turned right back around to return to Morocco because we were unprepared for me to stay in Ceuta (luggage, and everything was in Tetouan). When I tried to get back in Morocco, they had to send me to a supervisor's office to get special permission to re-enter so quickly, and I doubt I would have been able to if I didn't have my daughter with me. It took me 2 hours to get back into Morocco. Because of the fact that you have to stay in Spain for 24+ hours, you might consider flying to Madrid on EasyJet, I believe it's only about US$40 round trip and you can stay in a hostel for very little money. Always+Forever did this, and I wish I had, maybe you could PM her about it.

Good luck!

Sarah

PS- I asked an official at the airport about what happens if you overstay, and he told me that if its for a month or less, they won't give you a hard time when you leave Morocco. I don't know how long you want to stay, but this might be an option too. It wasn't for me, because I was there for 6 months..

hmmnm interesting,

My father has been doing this for like decades. Why wont he just

apply for a residency card lol.

I researched this too and found a speed boat called "Tangier to Tarifa" it looks

like a big yacht, and online info says there is a passport service that stamps

your passport on the boat and the time is like 45min each way. Alot of expats rave

about this method. I never heard of having to stay in Spain with this option.

Also has anyone ever used Ryanair? They are supposed to be cheap too, like ~50$, but

i dont know how their service is. I hear they nickel and dime you to death and in the

end it comes to around 90 bucks but still not a bad price.

I think that if you physically leave the continent, they don't care how long you stay in Spain, but at the Ceuta border, they're a little tougher.. Wish I had known about the boat :(

I took the Tangier to Tarifa boat (went to Algecerias with my SIL shopping). It's nice, convenient and reliable. Although the Tangier port is a bit seedy.... My husband had all kinds of trouble with the Spanish immigration folks in Madrid and he had his 10 yr GC, our 2 USC children, and his letter for his CItizenship oath ceremony...

I think taking the AM ferry to go shopping in Spain and then the late night ferry back should work out alright!

May 11 '09 - Case Approved 10 yr card in the mail

June - 10 yr card recieved

Feb. 19, 2010 - N-400 Application sent to Phoenix Lockbox
