. . . [Andrew] Young, a former congressman and U.N. ambassador, made in an interview with the Los Angeles Sentinel newspaper. The chairman of Working Families for Wal-Mart, he said he saw nothing wrong with the giant retailer running mom-and-pop stores out of urban neighborhoods.

"Those are the people who have been overcharging us, selling us stale bread and bad meat and wilted vegetables. ... I think they've ripped off our communities enough. First it was Jews, then it was Koreans and now it's Arabs; very few black people own these stores," Young was quoted as saying.

Young has apologized for his remarks, calling them "completely and utterly inappropriate," and resigned from his position with the Wal-Mart-funded, nonprofit group.

Its one thing when a drunk hollywood actor makes a stupid statement under police interrogation--but another thing when a Life-long politician, civil rights leader, and person of change makes worse comments while sober to the press during a scheduled interview.

What was Andy Young thinking? Or not thinking?

In accordance with Georgia law, "The Georgia Security and Immigration Compliance Act," I am required to display the following in any and all languages that I may give immigration related advise:

'I AM NOT AN ATTORNEY LICENSED TO PRACTICE LAW AND MAY NOT GIVE LEGAL ADVICE OR ACCEPT FEES FOR LEGAL ADVICE.'

So you are saying that Jews, Arabs and Koreans purposefully sell bad meat, stale bread, and wilted vegetables--how could they be such successful business people if they purposefully sold inferior products. Well from where I live the Korean and Jewish markets are the places you go to get fresh food. I have not been to a Arab market yet--so I can't really speak about that.

I think he was talking about inner city mom and pop corner stores where you get stuff at 7/11 prices because it's the only game in town and some people don't have transportation to go to a real grocery store. Stuff in stores haven't always had a sell buy date and I bet you before they did stuff in those stores stayed on the shelf until someone bought them at a 7/11 prices.

I can. I have been buying our fresh meat from a halal Arab place for the last three years. Great prices and excellent quality. Service is a little crappy, but at those prices, who gives a sh!t.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

I know what you are talking about, when I lived in Baltimore I lived right next to a Korean owned corner store. Many people from the neighborhood used that store because it was so close by. Prices were higher than the Safeway which was some blocks away. Don't know about the "bad meat, stale bread, and wilted vegetables" though, I never bought that stuff or saw anyone complain. The owners were actually very nice, honorable people and most people from the neighborhood were friendly with them. They lived next door for a time and we helped each other out in dealing with stuff in the neighborhood.

** the service. The meat at those places is awesome. Something the chains and giants can never compete with. I hate buying (red) meat at the grocery chain stores. Always prefer the small ethnic stores for that.

True or not doesn't even matter. Those remarks are nothing but blatantly racist. It's almost funny when yesterday's victim turns into today's perp. Almost...
