Hello Everyone!

My mother is USC, She is preparing to file for my married sister who lives in Nepal with her husband and a daughter. I am planning on preparing the paperwork for this process.

I am not sure how to go about it and any insight will be appreciated:

1. what are the forms that she needs to file to get this going.

2. does she needs co-sponsor? since she doesn't work (Not even sure if this is possible).

3. how long this process takes?

Thanks for your support.

VJ rules! i have got lots of help from here and i really appreciate everyone's input and suggestion.

for now she only needs the i130, payment and supporting documents. it will take more than 9 years, things might change in the future. probably by then she will be working.

the approved i130 will be sent to the NVC or national visa center, and there it will be filed until there is a visa available. then the nvc will contact your mother to continue the process.

Thank you for your quick response, wow i didn't think it took that long. So just I-130 would do? no other forms to fill out?

not for now. everything else comes after there is a visa available for her. afteer the i130 is approved, there is a long wait.

marriec children are in the 3rd category of preference.

you can check out the visa bulletin to get yourself familiarized. you will need to follow it once the i130 is approved and she receives a priority date.

www.travel.state.gov/visas and then check on the left side and click on visa bulletin, and then chooss the month. the current buelltin is for October.
