Hello, I am 24 years old, living in USA and didn't get a green card because I moved from F2A to F2B. My mom is a LPR so she is going to apply for me. I wanted to know how long is the wait and is it true I will get a work permit first? If so when might I get that, in a couple 3-6 months or within a year? I'd like to also hear from people's own experiences. Thanks.

not true, the petition takes more than 5 years. if you check the visa bulletin for this month, category 2B is in January 1st, 2005.

about the other petition that you aged out of, who filed a petition for your family? when did they file for your fammily? since when did you enter the country>

we need to know if you would be grandfathered under the 245i. generally speaking, children of residents don't qualify to adjust in country unless there is a special law or an immigration reform.

tell us more about your caste.

Here's my whole story. I've been here since 95' and around 98' my uncle(dad's brother) sponsored our family. Around 2004 my mom got sponsored by a business and in 2007 my mom, dad, and sister got work permits. I was 18 when we applied and of course I was 21 in 2007. The lawyer actually on the day of the interview got the officer to tranfer the case to the '98 case b/c my mom had few papers he needed. My dad and sister got their green cards around Oct. or Nov. of 2009. My mom had few papers she they asked for. She then got her green card Feb, of 2010. My mom was told by her lawyer that since I grew up here I can apply for green card and with in a year I can get a work permit atleast. I have also already applied for Diversity Lottery Visa and still waiting. I'm going to apply this year again, next month actually. By the way my parents are indian and I am born and raised in Bahrain and then moved to USA when I was 10 years old.
