Good day to all.

about two (2) months ago i was desperately seeking co sponsor...now my search is over...what a relief for me..i eventually got one of my cousin to be my co sponsor...she already sign and submit the required documents to my husband attorney which will then be sent to the NVC later on once my attorney gets all the required documents and paperwork...along with my husband payment to the NVC...now am just waiting on my husband do his part.my question is now that i eventually have a co sponsor who makes way more over the poverty level ...does my husband still need to prove Immigrations that he's financially stable?because my aunt from Canada told me that my husband will need money in his bank account...like over $2000USD to show to immigration that he can support me...is any of this true?despite having a co sponsor he now has a new job that he started working last month..but he hasn't save anything from it yet and he doesn't have money in any of his bank accounts...so am wondering if this would be a problem by the time the CR1 visa paperwork is process...I just don't want any problems or complications when i go for my interview....so i need to know if my aunt is telling the truth?

You submit the documents in stages, not all at once. So it can take up to 2 months (averaging these days) but I think the record on VJ is 13 days

Good luck

He would need to have the difference of his income and the poverty level income times 5. So lets say the poverty level says he needs to be making $24,000 a year and his last year returns said he only made $22,000. The difference of $2000 he would need to have at least $10,000 in his account to satisfy immigrations requirements. I hope this paints a better picture for you.

i believe if it is for your spouse it is 3x, but for others sponsering it is 5x

if you gave your info (receipt #s, full name, etc) to anyone on VJ under the guise that they would "help" you through the immigration journey with his inside contacts (like his sister at USCIS) ... please contact OLUInquiries@dhs.gov, and go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact to report anything suspicious. Contact your congressman and senator's offices as well.

i believe if it is for your spouse it is 3x, but for others sponsoring it is 5x

it doesnt allow me to edit so posting again. here is a copy/paste from instructions... it is 3x for spouse or minor child:

In order to qualify based on the value of your assets, the totalvalue of your assets must equal at least five times thedifference between your total household income and thecurrent poverty guidelines for your household size. However,if you are a U.S. citizen and you are sponsoring your spouseor minor child, the total value of your assets must only beequal to at least three times the difference. If the intendingimmigrant is an alien orphan who will be adopted in theUnited States after the alien orphan acquires permanentresidence, and who will, as a result, acquire citizenship undersection 320 of the Act, the total value of your assets need onlyequal the difference.

To use the assets of a relative (spouse, adult son or daughter, parent or sibling), the relative must reside with you and havecompleted a Form I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor andHousehold Member, with accompanying evidence of assets. The Form I-864A and accompanying evidence of assets issubmitted with Form I-864. You may use the assets of morethan one relative who resides with you so long as you submit acomplete Form I-864A with evidence of assets for each suchrelative.

27. Household Member's Assets.

You may use the assets of the intending immigrant regardlessof where he or she resides. The intending immigrant mustprovide evidence of such assets with this form. Form I-864Ais not required to document the intending immigrant's assets.

28. Assets of the Intending Immigrant.

29. Total Value of Assets.

Example of How to Use Assets: If you are petitioning for aparent and the poverty line for your household size is $22,062and your current income is $18,062, the difference betweenyour current income and the poverty line is $4,000. In orderfor assets to help you qualify, the combination of your assets, plus the assets of any household member who is signing FormI-864A, plus any available assets of the sponsored immigant, would have to equal five times this difference (5 x $4,000). Inthis case, you would meet the income requirements if the netvalue of the assets equaled at least $20,000.

since this is the cousin and not the spouse sponsoring, they would need to have 5x (if they did not meet the income requirements - which they do in this case so assets isnt an issue). OP is askign what the husband needs in his bank act but he shouldnt have to show any assets if income requirement is alreayd met.

if you gave your info (receipt #s, full name, etc) to anyone on VJ under the guise that they would "help" you through the immigration journey with his inside contacts (like his sister at USCIS) ... please contact OLUInquiries@dhs.gov, and go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact to report anything suspicious. Contact your congressman and senator's offices as well.
