Sounds very nice!

I have my dress ordered. Should be in this month so I can start alterations. We are keeping it very simple. We are planning on Hawaii. I was stressing to make things affordable for family & friends to come but then I just said %@#* it! This is OUR day. We just said to everyone if they want to & can afford to come, they are welcome to. If not that is ok too. Maybe a small few will come. We will probably do some sort of party when we get home.

Sounds like an awesome time! Are you guys planning on staying a bit for an immediate honeymoon? Or going home right afterward? I think if Andrew had a bigger family in Canada, we may have considered a "neutral" location for a destination wedding--as it is, I grew up in the Philadelphia area, and he's got a very small family, so we found the perfect place here. Are you doing a beach ceremony? What kind of dress did you pick out?

I hope they listened to you! It would be sooo nice if they did. All fingers & toes crossed for you!

I would seriously send them a gift basket if for some CRAZY reason we got an interview in Sept while my fiance was on leave haha. Although it would likely be thrown out for suspicious reasons. So maybe just a card that doesn't sing.

See profile for our K-1 Visa/AOS story from 2010-2011Apparently we love USCIS/NVC so much we left and are doing it again! This time giving IR-1 a whirl. Rock on immigrators.

Hehe yep, a lot of those things we've looked into. I already made Save the Dates in Photoshop, ready to print! Have my invites chosen, but that's easy, I'm going to print my own with one of those invite kits you can get at arts & crafts stores. I feel like a nutcase having so much decided with no date!

I'm in the same boat as your FI... I wish I could go to Montreal for the interview, but unless it happens to be on a Monday, I just can't swing it, having to save vacation days for wedding stuff :(

Haha you are too right about the Wednesday!

Yeah, FI is going to be super nervous about going to MTL, and I'm crossing my fingers for a Monday interview so I can go to help with the anxiety. It's about a 9 hour drive for me, but I'll do it even just for the day if I can!

I know he doesn't have to be there for the interview, but we meant so that I can have my Visa in hand and move while he was still on leave (I am moving the day I get my passport back). So that way he is there and we can get a place, move, marry... you know, all that silly stuffs.

... to add. He doesn't 'get' vacation days. The Army doesn't work like that. He can request leave but not after he just had block leave, and not if they have training. Word is there will be lots of training for a while as soon as leave is over. They don't care if you are getting married or having a baby, if your mother is dying. They will only work with you to a certain extent.

I'm basically to the point where I can't do anything else to prepare. I've already got my dress--waiting a few more weeks to start alterations, but basically that'll just be a hem and bustle. Bridesmaids dresses are ordered (it's just my 2 sisters) and should be in in a few weeks. We've got all of the big vendors picked out--photographer, hair/makeup--and they've all said they're anticipating a slow November this year. Honestly, we're keeping it on the small side--about 40 people, the venue we've chosen is perfect for our smaller guest list and shorter amount of notice--it's the General Warren Inne in Malven, PA--a gorgeous little bed and breakfast type place, with a top notch restaurant that operates all the time.

What about you? Any big (or small!) plans you've been able to make?

You're moving close to me!!!!! I live in Lancaster.

I just want to wish you all good luck with getting an interview date fast! This time last year I was waiting for my interview, and it got really long! But keep your heads up and it'll come with time :)

12/31/2009 - Marriage

07/21/2010 - AOS approved

08/04/2010 - Green Card received (and it's actually green!)

05/30/2012 - Sent ROC packet to VSC

06/08/2012 - Received NOA1 for ROC (Dated 06/04/2012)

Hi! I'll be hopeful and put us in the "next batch" with you, although our Packet 3 still hasn't been logged in yet. That worries me a bit because some sent back later have been logged in. I mean really, isn't "logging in" a packet just acknowledging you've received it? It's not like they have to have an interview date available to do that. We're reeeeally hoping for September interview and wedding no later than early November, so it's not winter so his family can drive here for it. :/

I plan to fly up for my swee's interview, then fly over to Ontario and meet his family.

We have planned what we can for now, I've posted some in the "Wedding Details" thread, maybe will update here or there later. :innocent:

My SO is in Georgia, I'm in Halifax. He can't come for the interview as he's saving vacation days to move me down. HOPEFULLY i'll get a late-week interview as I'm hoping to schedule the medical and interview the same week to avoid the cost of going to Montreal twice. Is there a valid reason why you can only do your medical in Toronto or Montreal??

US Immigration approved clinics is all... they chose, we follow :)

I think there is a small explanation in packet 3, at least in mine there was.

We are very excited about Hawaii! We are planning on being there for a week. Thurs. to Thurs. with the wedding on the beach at sunset on the Sat. Neither of us have big families. So, it will be small no matter what.

My dress is strapless, with that scrunched fabric look on the top & I will get it altered to make it a high low cut, since it's on the beach. I don't want anything long.

What does your dress look like? What colour is your girls wearing? What are your honeymoon plans?
