finding case number

Hi everyone,

I'm a bit impatient. I just received notification that my check has been cashed and I'd like to see my case on USCIS site, but there are a bunch of numbers on the back of the check. Does anyone know if they are still putting the number on the back of the checks and which one is it?

Thanks!

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer:

I filed in May. My check did not contain any numbers that were in my case number assigned by USCIS. Since they now send the package to Texas to a bank clearinghouse (for the Californai Service Center anyway), the numbers on the check only relate to payment processing. I am sure the USCIS has a way of taking those numbers on the back of your check and relating them to the WAC number you will be assigned.

As you will discover the website is not very reliable for how your processing is going. Several VJers have received their NOA2 in the mail and the website is still indicating initial review and no additional touches after the first NOA1 so do not put too much stock on the website. The way I get my hope is to watch the timelines and see who around my NOA1 date is getting approved or RFEs, at least that shows there is progress being made--like a glacier moving  .

Good luck on your journey and welcome.

Dave

They are sending packets from Vermont to Texas as well, and so no, the case number is no longer on the back of the check. I also agree with Dave's comment about not trusting the website. It isn't always updated. My Fiance just sent his forms back the the embassy and we are waiting for an interview date, but the USCIS website still says our case is in Initial Review.

Did you fill out the G-1145 Electronic Notification Form when you filed? I'm hoping I'll get my information this way, though I have still been obsessively checking my status on the site as well =)

How long did it take for them to cash your check? Mine has been there for 4 days now but they haven't cashed it yet.

It took them at least 10 days to cash my check. I think it's faster with money orders, but then you don't get the number on the back of the check..oh wait, you still don't! hahah
