Perhaps pointing out that the Han Chinese are a large chinese ethnic group will provide some clarity.

If it's unacceptable to make this sort of comment about Jews, blacks, hispanics and muslims etc. this is surely no different.

I did. Although frankly I'd expect moderators of an international forum to know that. The Han are hardly obscure. We're not talking about some isolated tribe with a population of 20 here.

5 minutes in the beijing west train station will show you that. they travel in swarms and swallow up everything in their path, with utter disregard and savagery to those in the byway.

mongols are a distinct people, more closely related to europeans than to chinese. even before the khan they were genetically closer to europeans.

Chinese train stations come complete with screaming, shoving and money waving at the counters. It's charming for the tourist who wants to see the locals behaving naturally.

I don't believe the Mongols were ever more closely related to the Europeans than the Chinese.

Considering the fate of Tibet and the treatment of peasants that have had their homes seized without compensation being only a couple of examples...I'd say his observation may not be totally without merit. It was an observation...not an attempt to degrade, intimidate, incite violence, or prejudicial action. You are making much adoo about nothing.

To call any ethnic group "locusts" is most definitely an attempt to degrade.

Be that as it may, he did use derogatory terms to characterize an entire population of people. That is the literal definition of a racist remark. He certainly could have made the same point using less racist terms. The validity of his claims are immaterial to the point AJ was making.

That term has been used so many times to describe large gatherings that I find it ridiculous to even suggest it is a derogatory term.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

When applied to an ethnic group, it is.

The fact that there are a lot of bigots out there who use the term and even more bigots who condone its use makes absolutely no difference.

And then there are those that throw out the "bigot" insult when someone doesn't buy into their views and they get riled over it. Get a life!

I like how you always harp back to that

No, it's clearly a bigoted statement. What's unsurprising is the collection of individuals who've rushed to its defense.

Yup, it's an issue. IMO, you've slipped back in, without repurcussions.
