Medical: worried about secondhand marijuana smoke

Hi all, I have what feels like a very teenage question... my fiance's medical is scheduled for next Wednesday, August 11. This weekend, we were at a barbecue where tons of people were smoking weed. We didn't smoke, but I didn't even think until this morning: if he was around that much of it, could it show up on his medical exam? I know they do a blood test, I assume they do a drug test. Is it worth rescheduling? I don't want to be unnecessarily paranoid, but his visa medical exam is NOT the day we want to find out if our honest but afterschool-special-sounding excuse will be believed.

They don't do drug tests on everyone, especially in "easy" countries like the UK.

In any case, second hand smoke, especially from an outdoor event, will not show up in his blood test.

Normally - SHS will not show up in a urine test.

Hair test - might show up, but they would do a different test if that happens. (then the SHS will not show up)

Does he remember, did they do an actual drug test? I can't find anyplace that says specifically, and asking makes me feel like we'd look suspicious... I don't want to be ridiculous about this, but I'm also feeling like we'd rather be safe than sorry... after all the work we've gone through to get this far, I'd hate for something like this to trip us up!

Hope they are not California bound - sounds like they are not short of junkies there either.

The main thing I have against drugs is the kind of people who use them and the kind of people who one gets the stuff from. I just don't want to be around them

Look out when you get to the US as a conviction for being a part of those parties can stop the naturalization process and even result in deportation with sufficient surrounding circumstances.

Look at what happened to John Lennon for instance and many more. Thank goodness you woke up to the possibilities before anything went wrong as it puts you in a fix with the USCIS for YEARS

I have never heard of passive smoke leaving a trace in blood even if they do do a random test but heck - note to self - don't mix with those people who use that stuff - and despite what those people say, there care plenty of interesting things to do and interesting people to know, and decent parties with people who don't do it.

I was trained to detect that stink when I was a 19 year old Police Officer and I would get out of any place where it was being used - firstly because of the USCIS, secondly because of the type of people in there and thirdly because of the stink and only fourthly because of the stuff itself.

Thanks... I've never had a drug test in my life, not even sure how it works, but this whole process is making me stressed and paranoid!
