I just realized that I made my $455.0 check for the I-129F out to the USCIS instead of the Department of Homeland Security. What should I do? Will I receive a RFE for this? Please Advise.

If I am not mistaken they will not accept your application or if they do they will request you to send a proper check to begin to process you application. I would try contacting them now. Good luck.

I don't think mistakes on checks will result in RFE.

They will probably return the check with a letter stating that there is a mistake

Or they'll return your entire application.

No biggie, you'll just re-send everything with the corrected check

I wrote a check that they didn't need and they returned it, stapled to an NOA letter.

They will most probably send the entire file back to you. Write a new check and everything will be just fine

Oh, I'm such a bonehead. I wrote my check to USCIS too. I guess I'll wait for the returned packet to write a check to the department of Homeland Security. Thanks.

Occasionally they'll stamp the check "U.S. Department of Homeland Security" and cash it. Most of the time, they just return the entire package. You make out a new check and send the package back. They never send an RFE for this. They can't even enter the petition into the system until the payment has been accepted.

They won't. As others have said, they will be sending the package back to you.

Expect the result to be exactly the same as if you had made out the check correctly. This is a common mistake they deal with daily.

I made my check to USCIS per the paralegal who works for my attorney. He does a lot of immigration. But, maybe this is why the check hasn't cleared after 19 days.

I made the same mistake last week when I sent my check, however they stamped it with Department of Homeland Security and cashed it only a few days after I sent it.

I was about to do the same but before I wrote the check, i recheck the I129F guide and there they mention the correct way to write the check.

It is very importatnt to READ the form instructions a few times and check all your forms several times before mailing. It is clearly in the I-129F instructions how to make the check out and where to mail it.
