Adoption is a state by state issue once the child arrives. You may need to have a parental relationship for a specified time and the other parent must either have their rights removed or be deceased.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

My fiancee and her child will be moving on K-1/K-2 to Texas later this year. I have searched the forum and have not found anything conclusive, and so I am wondering if someone can direct me to the right info on K-2 child adoption procedure. Thanks!

You don't need info on the adoption of a K-2 but simply the adoption of a child as is allowed in your state of residence. K-2 status does not change anything other than the child will have the possibility of a non-resident alien for a father

Thank you. How about my stepdaughter's biological father - will we need any paperwork from him (lives in Russia) for adoption in the US?
