I know the feeling. When everyone was getting their NOA1 in 5 days, my emails/TxT didnt come till after 2 weeks of sending overnight. Today saw the status online and it says they 'received' my application on August 13th - 10 days after it was delivered.

Hope you get something in next day or so.

I know I cant complain as its early days but I am just getting so anxious and worried I may have done something else wrong.

My papers were signed for on the 9th of August and signed for by "reception". Oh the mind plays stupid games.. Now I am thinking it wasnt delivered to the third floor and might get lost.

Im glad you are having some progress now.. I hope and pray to be in the same boat soon.

Biometrics Walk-In Successful. :) I don't know why the appt was scheduled for 3 weeks away. They close at 4:00pm and we got there about 3:15pm. There were rows & rows of empty chairs, not a single person except the workers, if you can call them that. When we walked in the receptionist literally had her head down on her desk. The others were watching tv. Another example of our Federal govt hard at work.

If you receive E-notification, the status would be most likely updated online already.

But there are many cases they don't update the status online even if they are working on it... Like I never received update the first 1.5 month and no update on AP but received the hard copy etc...

Hello everyone. I am brand new to VJ. I wish everyone a fast and painless process.

My situation is as follows:

Aug 12: Entered US in K1 visa.

Aug 13: Married.

Aug 16: Sent AOS, AP & EAD package by Fedex to the Chicago S. Dearborn St. address. (Took the risk of not sending an I-693, only sent DS-3025, it did have the checked mark for completed vaccionations. I hope I don't get an RFE for the I-693. :))

Aug 17: Fedex confirmed they had delivered the package.

Does anyone know if it is possible to be succesful at a walk-in biometrics WITHOUT having received the letter for the biometrics appointment (or not even the e-notification for the biometrics appointment), but having received the letter of NOA1(not that I have received it, but just wanted to know)?

Thanks!

I think you have to wait for the letter. Otherwise you won't have an appointment and they won't let you in.

Thanks!

I have never read about a VJer who attempted a biometrics walk-in before receiving the appt letter, however, if you are really anxious, you might try walking-in with only the hard copies of the NOA1, because those have your case numbers and Alien number, which is what you need for the form that you fill out when you get there. The appt letter has the address of the Application Support Center, so since you would be going before you receive that letter, you would need to look up where the closest one is. You can do that here: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=ASC

Keep in mind that there does not seem to be a concensus on VJ about whether having the biometrics done early actually speeds up your case. One VJer wrote that he spoke to USCIS officer once who told him that it could actually slow down your case. However, I would think that it would potentially speed up your case because I doubt they would send you an interview appt before you have completed your biometrics, nor would they approve you at CSC before your biometrics is complete. So although it's good to get it out of the way, we don't know for sure if doing so will move your case to the next step of the process any quicker.
