CRBA Question

We submitted our CRBA package for our daughter in Apr 10, and my fiancee took my daughter to her appointment on 2 Jun 10. There she was told we would need a DNA test. She payed the passport/CRBA fee and gave her info for Air21. She doesn't remember signing the passport application as she was busy and distracted with our baby. They gave her all of her documents back to her. They also needed a new DS-3053 (apparently they expire) and a DS-5507 (I didn't know there was a form for this and instead made my own sworn statements and had them notarized, would have been nice if they mentioned this form on their website). I completed these forms and sent them to the Embassy.

I got my copy of the DNA results last week, meaning the Embassy should be receiving their copy soon, if not already. I was under the assumption that my child would have to make another appearance at the Embassy after the DNA test was completede so that they could finalize the paperwork (i.e. sign the passport application). My fiancee was going through all of the papers that they gave back to her and noticed that the passport application and CRBA application were not there.

Question is: Is it possible that everything is already done, and when they receive the DNA results they will automatically submit everything? Or will they have to make another appearance at the Embassy?

I tried to email the Embassy laste week, but still haven't gotten a reply. I have emailed them before and gotten replies the next day. I was going to call them on Monday, but thought I might throw the question up here for anybody that has gone through this before.

Thanks

Sorry, I wanted to add another question about the Exit Clearance for my daughter with a US passport. Since my fiancee has her visa already, we were going to get tickets for them to come here as soon as we had our daughter's passport/CRBA in-hand. This means we might not have time to get a Filipino passport before they leave.

Where would we pay the exit clearance fees? Would it be at the immigration office at the airport?

Thanks again.

We also did CRBA for our daughter but luckily we were not requested to do DNA.As far as I can remember with all the friends that give me info about this that after DNA everything about your daughter's CRBA will be Ok.

If you do not matter about the price then Its ok to get an exit clearance..But If i were to suggest why not just get a PI passport..When I applied for my Daughter's PI passport I only waited one week and I have it.Its not a lot of time. That is just a suggestion anyway.Hope this link will help you..The BI website is here

We gt our daughter's crba and passport for about 1 1/2 months. DNA test expedite the process. As soon as the embassy receives the dna test result, your daughter's crba and passport ready for delivery via air21 in about 3-5 days. No need to bring your baby at the embassy. You will get the exit clearance at the bureau of immigration office in Manila which only costs you around 1500 that includes the bribe (hehehe) based n my own xperience...you can get the clearance in the afternoon if you apply around 10am. If you go there around 8am then you can have the clearance before 12noon the same day.

The crba and passport application were taken at the embassy that is why they were not at your wife's possession. After the embassy has rceive the DNA test result, the embassy will contact your wife. If in a hurry you can contact them instead.

Thank you for all of the info. I stayed awake last nite to call during their 2 pm to 4 pm inquiry hours. Until 3:30 the line was busy, then my fiancee called a couple times and got the answer "everything is ok with your daughter's passport. Just wait for air21 delivery, no worries."

When you say 3-5 days, you mean 3-5 days for them to process the application...then the normal 2-3 weeks for delivery?

Thanks again.

After the embassy has confirmed that the citizenship of your daughter has been approved, you no longer wait 2-3 weeks delivery of her crba and passport. I got mine 5 days delivery after the embassy confirmed the approval of my daughter's citizenship. The embassy approved my daughter's citizenship Tuesday then I received her crba and passport Saturday ( 5 days waiting time).

Well, I guess it also depends on how loaded the embassy processing the other application that is why it may take sometime to deliver. But I guess you no longer wait 2-3 weeks for that.

Thanks again for your replies...that's great news! Our plan is now to get her a PI passport right after her US passport is delivered. I am nervous about getting it before we have the US passport because we put on her application she had no other passports and I don't want it to cause any delays.

We will buy the tickets for 2-3 weeks after the US passport is dwlivered, so that should give us time to have her PI passport before the flight.

Thanks again for the replies!

^^ what do you need the Philippine passport for? I'm confused. Sorry. Won't the Immigration officers in the US wonder why there's no departure stamp in her US passport?

The Philippine passport will give her dual citizenship and she will not have to pay exit fees. Then later if they ever go back to PI for more than 30 days, she will not need a visa.

Isn't it illegal to have more than 1 passport? As for dual citizenship, if I'm not mistaken, has to be applied for. My hubby has been here in the Philippines for a while now, and entered using his American passport. He hasn't had a problem with immigration.

Btw, how much is the exit fee? My son's gonna have to leave the Philippines soon but haven't really figured out what documents to get for his departure since we're still trying to get the IR-1 visa for myself.

It is not illegal to have 2 passports if you are dual citizen.A child who have the CRBA is automatic dual citizen because they are native born of the Philippine to a filipino mother/father and american father/mother.

Those who have to apply for dual citizenhip in order for them to have Phil.passport or acquire Philippine citizenship are for filipinos who have been naturalized here in the US.

So if your son went through the process of CRBA..he is automatically dual citizen..all you need to do is get him a Philippine passport in able for him to hold US and Philippine passport and no need for him to pay for exit clearance at Bureau of Immigration.
