Hi,

I'm a student on F-1 from Norway, and my wife is a US Citizen. We've filed I-130 and I-485 concurrently recently, and she wants to change her last name to mine. Is it possible to do this during the application process, and will it slow down the application? What do you need to do to update the pending application?

Thanks.

Kind regards, Jørgen.

She is a US citizen. She can easily do it and it will be a good sign on interview also. First she needs to go to SS office and then DMV and the rest of it all. For all purposes where mentioned her maiden name she will just need to show her married name document and marriage certificate.
