HELP! I-94 on passport lost

8 posts in this topic

Recommended Posts

Hi, I remember I had my I-94 and everything when I first arrived in the US. I already have my GC and everything, and I am working on getting the INA 319(b) expedited naturalization since my husband is in the military and overseas.

Anyway, I remember I had made copies of my I-91 for the AOS, tried to put it back on the passport with a crappy staple wire, and couldn't remember what happened next after that. I left the country on command sponsorship to come here in Okinawa and be with him. I really cannot remember on top of my head since I left US since feb. 18, 2010 and haven't really looked into everthing so much until I found out I am able to do expedited naturalizaTIOn..

Now my questions are:

1) did they take away my I-94 when I left the US to come here in Japan? Was it possible they took it off my passport when I was at the US airport?

I really can't remember .. and I'm freaking out coz I feel like it's quite important ..and it's just not in my passport anymore

2) IF they didn't, is it very important to be in my passport? I know it expires in 90 days after you set foot in the US with the K-1, but for some reason I know it's part of documentation, right?

3) What do I do? Will I be in trouble with immigration since it's missing now? PLS. HELP

Thanks!

Yes they take your I-94 when you leave the US.

This is how they keep track of people's ins and outs.

Sometimes they forget to do it (i've heard..) but they are supposed to.

Yes, don't worry :)

I have it worse than you.. I am actually in the US and I really did lose the I-94, along with the passport of course, which is even better!

But I-94s can be replaced with a 'small' fee of 320 bucks. So life goes on even then ;)

Yeah well it won't be completely resolved in time for our AOS interview. But I'm just going to bring a copy of the lost I-94 and the NOA I got for filing a replacement. I just see it as I've done everything I can... simply have to wait and see what they tell me at the interview.

Hopefully they don't make it a policy to deny just because of lost I-94.. I don't think so!
