Hi to everyone....I'm new here in VJ and I wish I come to know about this site from the start of our K-1 process. We are preparing now to file for ROC. I have a question about some of the evidences we are including in our package. Our current residence is co-owned by my husband (USC) and his parents years before we were married. My father-in-law is already deceased and my mother-in-law is currently in a nursing home. I'm not listed as a co-owner of the house but the real estate taxes are being paid through our joint checking account. We don't pay rent nor mortgage for the property.Should I just include the proof of payment for the real estate taxes and a brief explanation about the status of our current residence?Or should I just skip altogether including proof of our conjugal abode?.The same thing with our utility account. It is still under my father-in-law's name but we are paying for it regularly from our joint checking account.

Among our major evidences, we filed jointly for our taxes in 2008 and 2009, I'm his beneficiary in his life insurance, I'm covered by his medical insurance, telephone, cable and internet accounts are both in our names and we have a joint checking account where our paychecks are deposited. We don't have any children and both of our vehicles are under his name along with the insurance( I'm still in the process of learning how to drive:().

Any good advice will be highly appreciated.Thank you in advance.

Nope. Don't skip it. Explain what you've just explained here. There has been a case here when someone received RFE (Request Further Evidence) just to show a lease (and something else, as far as I may recall). And yes, include the proof of payment if it shows your name.

The same thing with our utility account. It is still under my father-in-law's name but we are paying for it regularly from our joint checking account.

That's still fine too. If you want, you may highlight such transactions on your bank account statement

We don't have any children and both of our vehicles are under his name along with the insurance( I'm still in the process of learning how to drive:().

These are normal circumstances. They mostly look for the overall picture, not just one thing. Include a personal statement and explain whatever you need to explain if necessary.

Among our major evidences, we filed jointly for our taxes in 2008 and 2009, I'm his beneficiary in his life insurance, I'm covered by his medical insurance, telephone, cable and internet accounts are both in our names and we have a joint checking account where our paychecks are deposited.

In my opinion this is good enough smile.gif

One of the safest paths to take is like Okalian explained.

You can include a cover letter and in it, you can briefly explain the house and utilities. Since you are including your bank statements as part of the evidence, you can also indicate that you are paying from a joint checking account all expenses related to the house and the utilities. Many members are in that situation and were approved without any problems - just be honest with them and that will be enough for them to see it.
