Just explain the discrepancy in a cover letter. They know that records from before and during the French and American wars are not very accurate. My wife's uncle has three birth certificates, each with different dates on them. He sent all three originals to NVC with explanations for the various faulty information. They didn't care about the dates. They wanted to see the original birth certificates to establish proof of relationship with his sister he was petitioning for. He included copies with each original, and politely asked that they return the originals (which feel like they were printed on toilet paper) when they were finished. NVC kept the copies, and returned the originals when they were finished. His sister's petition has been approved.
