Hi everyone,

While we're waiting on getting the NOA2, my fiancee and I are going ahead and trying to gather any pertinent documentation to help speed things up once we receive the NOA2. I've been translating her "個人事項証明" (Individual Record) that she sent me and I'm curious about the experience of others (especially those who've already had experience with the US Embassy in Tokyo) in regards to:

  1. Whether this document ("個人事項証明") meets the requirements listed here (Japanese link/English link) ... it seems that it's all right ... but I want to be sure this is the case because of my slight confusion of the usage of the terms "birth certificate" and "family register" (which happens to contain the record of birth as well) that the embassy uses.
  2. Whether the translation needs to be done by a third party or if it is all right to do the translation by oneself (as I am doing now).

Thanks as always for all the kind responses and help.

I found this translation sample on someone's blog Heresmile.gif

I'm sure mine was pretty close to this one and I translated and signedwink.gif

Oh wonderful! Thank you for that link! It'll be a great guide. I'm relieved about being able to do the self-translation; I can't even begin to imagine how much it would cost had I had to pay someone. Thank you so much!

First of all, congratulations on your approval! I'll also use yours as a guideline for mine. I only have a sentence or two left to translate, then it's back to waiting mode. Good luck on the rest of your k-1 journey. Congratulations again! Wonderful news!
