Time will tell - perhaps you could participate in that particular study? There's a coupla inroads for you, maybe you could even subcontract to the commission handling it all, in AZ ? IMO, that's be a better use of yer time, to actively participate IN THE PROBLEM AREA/ARENA, instead of staying here on VJ.

Teachers in the ghetto are the worst. In Newark they import these losers from Nigeria to "substitute teach". The worst of both worlds, black urban speech and African hygiene...

The Arizona Department of Education recently began telling school districts that teachers whose spoken English it deems to be heavily accented or ungrammatical must be removed from classes for students still learning English.

That IS a no-no.

Ya - I remember the TV documentary about that. Was also some 'importing' from Eastern Europe, into NYC.

There's always some hope, that parents will contact the board of education en masse, get a large enough contingent to get things changed in a timely fashion.

Atleast the Slavic women look good. The Nigerian/Ghanian teachers I've seen are all butt ugly. Any new immigrant kid who is forced to gaze upon these creatures is probably scarred for life. Never mind the damage their "English" does.

ASU also has a theatre-arts department - many of the profs there contract out as 'dialog coaches'. I smell a money making opportunity, if the school districts will pay for it

The ones I've met. Which is more than a few. And apparently they don't know how to behave in graduate school either, I've heard anecdotes of their exploits and tantrums.
