I've seen on members timeline the word "touched" next to a date. What exactley does "touched" mean?

3-30-08 Met on Cherry Blossom

4-09-08 Decided to meet in person

5-11-08 1st meeting, 4 days

4-08-09 2nd meeting, 16 days

7-01-09 Engaged

12-16-09 3rd meeting, 15 days

3-18-10 Mailed I-129F to CSC

Hi there,

'Touched' means someone handled your application package physically.Most probably to check details and then do a background check or as simple as just moving it from one desk to another.

So what you do is set up an account with USCIS,with email and phone alert on,and fill in other details,so whenever you want to check the status of your application a month or two from now,you could log in and check the last-updated field date.If that has changed to something more recent,that means they were 'working' on your application.

"touched" basically means nothing in terms of adjudicating your case. Many people never get touched before approval. But basically your petition has a bar code on it and any time it is handled, the bar code gets scanned. Now they could handle your petition to move it to an adjudicators desk or to move it from filing cabinet A to filing cabinet B due to a leaky pipe
