How do I go about doing that? Do I do it, or does my fiance have to do it, and who does he contact? I really appreciate all of the help!

I did this in advance as it takes 40 days (and it did take 40 days in my case). Here is what I did.

1. Visited my local police station and asked for a subject search form (actually you can download these forms from most police websites in the UK)

2. Completed the form and took a cheque in person to the police station, payable to whoever is stated on the forms for 10 pounds.

3. Took sufficient ID with me (e.g. passport, drivers license) They take a copy of the ID and give the ID back to you, so all you lose is a tenner!

Wait wait wait

And then a letter pops through the post from, I think, New Scotland yard with a blue header stating that there is no record of you on their criminal databases (at least we hope so!).
