i don't have any advice to offer but i wish you luck.

audy rob, is that a new requirement on employment letters in bangkok? when my husband went through there (nearly 3 years ago) it was not required. i would think for a good number of thai's that it would be difficult since there are so many cash type jobs in thailand.

It is not new, it has been there since 2004 that I am aware of. I think it is a much more important issue for Thai ladies to provide letters of employment than it is for men. Due to a lack of education, a weak child/spousal support system, and very little welfare state for children and single mothers, prostitution is quite prevalent in Thailand.

For Thai ladies, even if they are in a cash job, should be able to provide a letter from their HR department or manager/boss stating when they started, or how long they have worked there and what their responsibilities are. It is best to provide a sequence of letters if the amount of time at the last position has been a relatively short time.

interesting...i know two girls who have immigrated from thailand also not required to provide employment letters but all more than 3 years ago. thanks for the information.
