My Fiancee just received her K-1 Visa from the US Embassy in Manila two days ago. I have now booked a flight for her to travel to the US. Unfortunately, she just called me and said that on her visa they mistyped the last letter of MY middle name (typed a g instead of a d). She is not from Manila and I have been told she needs to go back to the US Embassy to get this corrected. This would entail flying her back up to Manila to correct an error that they obviously made. I'm a bit frustrated right now since we are just finishing up the entire process and I can't say how many times we double checked and triple check spelling and forms to make sure they were accurate. Let alone the expenses of flying her up to Manila for not only her medical exam but interview (which I was happy to do). But now we get the visa and they typed it wrong - I mean don't they take the time to make sure they get the typing right?? Unbelievable. Sorry for venting. But here is my question - does she really need to go back to the US Embassy to get this corrected (one letter in my name). I'm partially afraid that they will keep the visa and then we will be back waiting for it and not knowing when we will get it when she has a flight to come to the US booked already. Any one have any experience or thoughts on this?

Moscow did the same and I emailed them and they said it was immaterial. The visa was used no problem.

On my son's visa (k2), my last and middle were interchanged. I called US Embassy, spoke with a CS Rep and told us to go back to US embassy and have it corrected w/c may take couple of weeks. But I wasnt satisfied so I called again, got a number from here to call directly Grace/Lorraine from the Visa Processing dept (or something like that), and she said that it wasn't a problem, what's important is the Visa holder's info.

Feb 07 - met my Dream Guy

Jun 08 - arrived in the US

Jul 08 - ♥♥♥ WEDDING DAY ♥♥♥

Jul 09 - Temp GC received

Mar 12 - 10 yr GC received

Aug 13 - Naturalized

Thanks. I have a hard time believing they are not going to let her in because someone obviously mistyped the last letter in my middle name. I have just tried to send the US embassy an email.

For getting on the plane -

the air ticket name must match the passport name

For CBP/POE - it won't matter - the OTHER forms INSIDE of the sealed packet have YOUR NAME spelled correctly. The 'electronic version' of the casefile (stored in SAFEFILE ) has your name spelled properly.

If you do have some concern about it - send HER a scanned NOA-2 document, she can print it out and hand carry on the trip.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Thanks for your suggestion. She has a ton of paperwork already with my information as she just finished with her interview at the embassy last week. But I'll make sure she has the NOA-2. Thanks again.

I was looking at the NOA-2. This does have a number on it by her name which I believe should be the same number as next to my name on the visa. Turns out the second digit of this number on her Visa does not match the second digit on the NOA-2 form!! There is a # sign on the visa and the letter O on the NOA-2 for this number. Do you still think I'm ok? The other problem we have run into is they have not given her a sticker at the CFO for the seminar she attended because they are telling her that the visa is incorrect. Without the sticker she can not leave the country. I'm not sure why this Philippine agency is concerned about a typo on her visa (very small one). I knew this was going way to good up to this point!!

I thought I would give eveyone an update on how this ended. I had some great replies from some people on here and they were absolutely correct. However, my fiancee was uncomfortable enough and I didn't want any problems so on Sunday I flew her up to Manila to go visit the US Embassy (this was after making several calls to them and getting no relief). She was at the embassy at 9 a.m., and showed her visa to the person at Gate 2, Window 34. The person there said "no problem - as long as your (my fiancee's) name and information is correct than there is no need to fix my middle name and also no problem with the number after my name." So, for the cost of a plane ticket and two night hotel stay we were able to get them to tell us we didn't need to do anything - thank you very much!! My fiancee then went on to the CFO office in Manila, never mentioned the issue with the visa, and they gave her the sticker needed to come to the US. She will be departing next week and all hurdles have now been cleared!!
