Hello everyone, I am new to the forum here but I have done a lot of research on this site and I must say there are many knowledgeable people here. I will be filing a K1 visa soon for my fiance in Brazil (I am a American living in America). I understand the K1 visa process for the most part but I do have a question. My fiance and I are expecting are first child in late March, I would like to know what I need to do to get my fiance and my child to America, I understand my fiance needs the K1 visa but what about my son??? Thank you for any responses....Paul.

Your son will most likely be a US citizen, as you are. You can file for CRBA (Consular Report of Birth Abroad) at the local consulate, and he'll get a US passport and SSN that way.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

If your son is born before she is in the US, you will have to file "birth abroad" - making the child an USC. (passport will be granted).

You will of course, add the child to any counts/documents that you will make.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS
